Seriously, if we are spending so much money in our infrastructure, surely it is not purely for just asthetic but practicality right?

Then where exactly did it goes wrong? Maintenance or poor design? 100 years rain fall should have been factored in. Something off course a bit. Once upon a time, civil services have Service Quality Manager where you could give feedback. Now it seems they don't want any feedback. Best make it so difficult and faceless you give up.

Climate change is a threat to our existence.  It is not an excuse.

While it is true natural disasters are part of earth existence, modern cities are expected to be designed to cope with predictable conditions. 101 tower in Taiwan didn't collapse during the last earthquake right?

Wow I do hope I hav the answer for Taiwan. I want to believe they have done their homework. For Singapore, I know we do have a department in NTU doing research on this. The anticipated 10 mag which they don't know when about 500 km from here will happen. Buildings will remain standing but services and finishes not sure.
