VW interior quality vs jap/koreans

I don't know why people can say VW interior is poor quality, and compare it with Honda Jazz & KIA. How to compare? Isn't it obvious that VW interior is better? You just need to open and close the door of Honda/KIA/VW, you would've known the difference. You don't even need to drive it.

Probably different people has different taste.

Some people think Wayne Rooney is handsome, & Megan Fox is ugly, who are we to judge.

well in the 1st place the car's ecu will sense if the car is underpowered or not

if it is, then it'll drop to a lower gear. so your car will not hit 7th gear at all

but the final ratio will definitely be lower than a 4 speeder so highway cruising will be more fuel economical

No wonder so many people want to shoot your post. Read properly lah, if the car don't hit 7th gear, then buy car with so many gears for what?

What I mean is the spacing of ratio for a 4 speeder vs a 7 speeder is 7 speeder ratio will be much closer to each other.

And in Singapore context, how often can you cruise on expressway if you are going to work at 7am and going back at 6pm?

Frankly, please buy your beloved Koup or the K5 or whatever Korean cars with the nice nice interior..

From this post, it shows you know nothing about TSI and 7-speed DSG.. and yet trying bring down the brand and technology

I drive a jetta mk6. Entry level vw sedan will never have plush interior. If not Passat and a4 suck thumb. This is called market segmentation. With Jetta u are paying for better performance, safety

Neutral Newbie

BTW, I am not the one that start the Golf vs Jazz comparison, its another bro that say Golf is in Europe like Jazz is in Singapore, or something like that.

So I told him that Golf is consider better than Jazz, in Europe, so not same class. Which of course you agree as well, as you say I should compare Polo with Jazz. [:p]

Bro I used to think you can be better than this, didn't expect you to be just like your good supportive buddy here [laugh]

In any case, please refer to my post #141. I made a comparison between Golf and Jazz if you insist, although I was actually comparing VW hatches in general and not just just the Golf you pointed out. I also made it clear that I wasn't comparing the cars physically per say, but rather in the context of status and accessibility based on the different conditions between Europe and SG.

My intention to post here was just to broaden the perspective of things, rather than engage in petty bickering which I often get myself into when the usual suspects misquote me. [rolleyes] German engineering emphasizes on precise engineering, maybe some of the bros who claim to appreciate German engineering here can exercise some of this precision when they read through the posts' of others before making criticisms. Just expressing my views, nothing personal and hope you do not take any offense. Cheers. [wave]

Actually it will always hit 7th gear as long you maintain light pressure on the throttle. IIRC when I was driving the Passat over the weekend, it went into 7th at about 80-90 kmh. Ideal fuel economical speed when cruising on the highway.

depends on your driving style... you can get into 7th at abt 70km/h for a 1.4tsi on a level road.. for a smooth drive of 20km (75% hwy), I can get 5L/100km.. for a 7 sp dsg on a 1.4 twincharge engine

haii you fail to see all the scenarios before shooting your mouth off

if you are traveling at 40km/h, your car will most surely be underpowered for the 7th gear, so the car will drop the gear to probably 4th or 5th.

but just because your car uses 4th or 5th gear at 40km/h doesn't mean that it won't use the 7th gear, it will when you accelerate to above 90 or 100km/h

also if the gear ratio for a 4 speeder were for example:

1 - 100

2 - 80

3 - 60

4 - 40

your final gear ratio will be 40

but if you have 7 gears,

1 - 100

2 - 90 (more powerful)

3 - 80

4 - 60 (more economical)

5 - 40

6 - 30

7 - 20

your final gear ratio can be half of what you get at 4 speeds and thus more economical.

do look at all the possible scenarios before commenting, just because you are stuck in a traffic jam during certain periods doesn't mean you'll always be stuck in a traffic jam all the time. also you are not the only person buying the car, there are many other people in other countries who could do with more fuel economy resulting from a lower final gear ratio

don't be self-centered and think only about yourself, you are not representative of the entire population

instead of calling people names it would be more constructive if you could point out where i went wrong

underpowered in this case means traveling at 30 or 40km/h and the 7th gear ratio is too low thus resulting in an underpowered situation

the car will automatically calculate which gear ratio is best for the current speed and act accordingly
