Sabbie Clutched January 28, 2012 Share January 28, 2012 basically what our public healthcare wants you to do is to queue up and wait for half a day at polyclinic first if you wan cheap cheap medical fees, but I think some of these doctors quite good la, if urgent, they do try to help you get priority but you must ask, if not they also just bau

Ysc3 Twincharged January 28, 2012 Share January 28, 2012 the polyclinic is like a triage ... they vet you and if you really need it, then they will refer you to the specialists centers. else if every T,D and H chooses to go to the specialist and waste their time, then those needing real attention will be made to queue like mad liow !! Sosaria Twincharged January 28, 2012 Share January 28, 2012 Even in some hospitals now, the clinics are "private", in the sense that they don't bother whether or not you have a referral letter... there's just no subsidised rate. Went for a dental 2nd opinion recently at one of the hospitals and found out. Nevertheless, for the price paid, the service was fast and pleasant. Receptionist also young lady that make small talk ... So, I guess there are pros and cons about "private" clinics and specialists. I'm going to find out soon if the "specialist" service is really, really good... i.e. Quick and Painless!!!
Happily1986 5th Gear January 28, 2012 Share January 28, 2012 The consultation fees are nothing to shout about. i would say it is fair because you are seeing a specialist after all. And most are well accredited and at least at consultant level. I think it is the medication that is the issue. Skin medication and/or treatment procedures are not cheap. While the issue regarding the extent of subsidy is debatable, i feel that skincare does not fall under the scope of primary healthcare. When it comes to the allocation of limited financial resources, i would rather see the ministry allocate government subsidies to more pressing healthcare specialties. ↡ Advertisement
