Happily1986 5th Gear February 3, 2012 Share February 3, 2012 Hi there, Been driving VW Scirocco 1.4TSI for a while and FD2 (2.0 N.A). They have about the same bhp. I used NSHW pretty often too on this 2 cars. Generally, I found VWS a quieter car than FD2. For Turbo, torque is handy to move the car off the line at low RPM. FD2 can be fast too but you need to use S mode, low gear but at higher rpm. So at higher rpm, the noise is naturally louder. When traveling at mid speed around 150km/h, I found VWS suspension very unsettling, probably it has a lighter rear. FD2 is more stable. At higher speed like 200km/h, not much difference between the 2. Space and comfort wise, no need to say, FD2 wins. If I need to bring family, I will take the FD2, If I'm alone or with just 1 or 2 passengers, I will take VWS. Fuel wise, I'm quite surprised with VWS fuel economy. It drives like a Toyota Vios 1.5. It is better than the FD2. Regards, Please elaborate on what you meant. I don't quite understand, my experience of Vios is that it is highly prone to body roll and less planted on its feet. The first generation Vios more guilty than the current iteration, the weight difference being the primary reason for the difference.
RogueGTR Neutral Newbie February 3, 2012 Share February 3, 2012 how about a 1.6NA mik vs vw 1.4 tsi? EG6 1.6 NA or others? If it's a strip out 1.6 Honda EG 1.6L NA at 40 tiang, then got 'fight'. However if it's any other 1.6L versus VW 1.4L TSi, then assure you that an idiot could drive then VW 1.4L TSi & win any other 1.6L hands down, wait- make that, breakfast/ coffee break/ lunch/ tea break/ dinner & supper

I don't quite understand, my experience of Vios is that it is highly prone to body roll and less planted on its feet. The first generation Vios more guilty than the current iteration, the weight difference being the primary reason for the difference. I'm just referring to its fuel economy. I once drove a vios up and down NSHW several times, so I can compare the fuel consumption between the two, roc and vios. Road handling wise, Vios can't compare with a Roc. ins1dious Turbocharged February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 (edited) why spend 60 k alone for the coe? I don't think the COE is coming down anytime soon. I think it'll only be higher in the future. I'd sell the Sonata and get a new car with a new warranty. ins1dious Turbocharged February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 (edited) What you are witnessing is called 'Profit' syndrome, since many 2010 & early 11' cars are relatively cheap when comparing to the High COE's of later 11' cars hence many are trying their luck if they could make a quick buck by selling their rides & take a quick profit. many of these ppl are " financially savvy" hence will extricate every bit that's benificial to them + not mentioning some that are incapable of maintaining their ride hence it also present them with a good scenario to offload their ride as these ppl are highly geared- financially that is Financial savvy alone isn't the reason bro. The seat belt rules changed so I had to give up my 2yr old Mazda6. COE 15k. Got 4 kids and wife still hasn't left me so need a 6 seater minimum. This high COE worked out well for me as the dealer bought the Mazda6 for more than what I'd paid for it and that to after 45k kms. Vinceng Turbocharged September 24, 2015 Share September 24, 2015 Sprinting look at NM. Long distance driving look at BPH. To me, uphil look at NM. Torque plays an important part when going uphil. Driver's skill comes in only when both are using same engine. I ever go up Genting with my 4 yr old 1.8 N.A. car. With 6 persons in there, even when I step full throttle, car can hardly move up. Hv to take own sweet time to go up. Even Michael cannot do anyting under this condition. That's when a manual car helps. The driver decides / determines the gear to engage, not the car.

mycarjunkie Neutral Newbie October 4, 2015 Share October 4, 2015 Sonata feels aloof when driving corner, a common sight when up genting. Jetta has better driving dynamics, however beware of the infamous gearbox mechatronics failure problem. Advice don't upgrade the power of the car, more prone to gearbox failure in time to come. ↡ Advertisement
