This is difficult for WP. WP will risk losing Hougang , coz PAP will demand a by-election if Yaw resign from WP, and hence step down as MP.

If true, WP should start grooming someone to take over when the time is ripe. Perhaps, PAP style of removing those useless Ministers can be an indication except that it should be done before the next GE2016. Don't think he should stand on WP's ticket in GE2016 otherwise, it could be an easy ride for the incumbent to win over the shortfall or hope to have a 3 party contest to neutralize WP's position to their advantage. I believe Hougang remains with WP largely because of support for Mr Low Thia Khiang and his party clean image rather than YSL.

I believe Asians, especially the women are less tolerant of infidelity than the west. Hence, many women voters will probably shift their votes elsewhere or spoil their votes if this issue is exploited during GE2016 poll.

Can only wish WP good luck if this issue is swept under the carpet.

look at clinton

personal affairs and leadership are two separate issues

of course it does not speak well

but then again

look at the older generation (misteress) and religion who allow 4 wives

judge a person for the task he or she is doing

Actually I dun understand why MP must hv a clean past or present n future if he truly takes good care of the ppl n ensure that they r well taken care of....to find a super "clean" MP, a...very hard in such a society...the rule is always do anything but dun get caught... If we cld shift away from this clean background mindset...n look at the MP objectively n his contribution, wont it be better... bearing in mind birth rate is also a KPI for MP... [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Then, it is highly likely that you probably also couldn't understand why many good opposition candidates continue to lose to the incumbent albeit at a lesser margin.

If Singaporean voters like you should condone such character, woe betides the future of Singapore politics because even rogues may eventually be acceptable so long as they are in the opposition??

It was never a separate issue even for Clinton. Otherwise, why was impeachment necessary??

Clinton could not go for the third term because the USA constitution does not allow more than 2 terms presidency. Had it been allowed, it does not mean that he will go for the third term and even if he did, it does not guarantee that he will win despite his achievements during his presidency.

As an MP, he is already subject to loss of privacy. I find comments asking him to confess and speculation over pregnancy/abortion to be irrelevant and somewhat childish. So what if he did? To what extent does he need to explain his private life. Granted he's an MP but he's not Truman Burbank.

Neither do I expect him to be a superman and a monk. Stop thinking that is available for $15k.

And let him without sin cast the first stone.

What I meant is WP could potentially loose hougang immediately if Yaw resign, no need to wait till 2016 GE. Once Yaw step down as MP (either sacked or resignation), a by-election will definitely be called by PAP and with the scandal fresh on the voter's mind, they could win .A risk, I believe WP would not want to take. The parliament seat for hougang MP not even warmed up yet.

No matter how true the scandal is, WP will not likely let Yaw go.

Everyone's post reflects their mentality and yours is no exception. It may be irrelevant to you BUT certainly not to those who hope to give high regard to the people (especially opposition candidates) in politics.

It is ok if he is NOT involved in Singapore politics who is EXPECTED TO BE CLEAN!!

Preach your "let him without sin cast the first stone" elsewhere since it cannot be applicable for such matter pertaining to politics because we as ORDINARY VOTERS EXPECT to have respectable people in POLITICS than those who expect to be 'saved' by so called 'supporters'. Sheesh!

Appreciate the situation when responding to your earlier post. Hence, WP will need to take whatever measure to arrest the problem and consolidate their position before the arrival of GE2016.

One thing for sure is that Yaw is unlikely to be the best man for the contest in Hougang come GE2016. Instead, he could be a liability to WP as a whole in GE2016 if he remains in WP albeit not immediately.

You are entitled to your own opinion so am I. I don't condone such actions if it's true. But he's not answerable to everyone other than those immediately affected. That's my point about this being a Truman show.

The scandal seems true from the way all involved behaved. WP just have to ride it out and hope their electorate is rationale enough. The electorate however is a fickle conservative bunch who might not know what is the best decision for them, and might even force a by-election.

The problem with some opposition supporters is that they like to paint those that disagree with their views as irrational.

What's wrong with wanting a morally upright person to represent me? Who are you to decide what is, rationally, the best decision for me?
