Qn: was LKY salary as entry politician peg to top earners in Singapore when he join politics?

No leh. He himself said that he was a "kept man" as his late wife was the main bread winner for the family as a lawyer then.

After seeing how the rest kena left right center.

This old man very smart to send a worded letter. Check n counter check, no misunderstanding analogy or loose lips situation.

Very water tight. He is indeed the smart one!

me thinks the reason why he wrote his argument in black and white is because he is old already, when he talks, he might go off tone then others misunderstood him.

old man already mah, tone is not as harsh as in his prime years

there can only be one THE ONE worth that $$

IMHO the ones who really deserve the high pay were actually the Old Guard team members like Dr GKS who really were facing a do or die mission then for the future of this little red dot.

They were fighting everything then: the withdrawal of the British forces, high unemployment rate, spiraling inflation rate, crime, communist threat, etc

I do not even mind we now allocate some money to be paid to their surviving spouses or family to recognize their trememdous contribution which created the strong foundation for today.

Kong LJ lah....sound like broken record, and threaten again........oh well

At least this time it was not in the form of "pay-peanuts-&-you-will-repent"-type of statement.

Seriously this is slowly to take the form of what was happening after Mahatir stepped down & Abdullah slowly amended or totally scrapped policies introduced by him. Case in point was the crooked bridge. Mahatir was absolutely furious & instead of taking potshots, he blasted his successor with all the heavy artillery until Abdullah raised white flag & surrendered.

Not likely to happen here in that state but we all know how old man is & so he will continue to have his voice heard when he feels like it... <_<

so many of ministers' kids are on scholarships.... their millionaire dads didnt have to fork out a cent for their tertiary studies.... like that how? more cuts for such ministers as they need less money?

To them Scholarships for their Kids are like Gold Medals on the shelf.

To us peasants, Scholarships for our kids are like a Lifeline for survival.

Yet they buay pai sey one.

If I MP or Minister I will give a scholarship to the next best kid from my pocket if my kid got it.

What about the threat that if Mah Bow Tan is no longer minister and then HDB prices will collapse?

[laugh][laugh]

Yep remembered this one [laugh]

All I know is that they came down hard with measures after measures to cool the white-hot property market which also indirectly causing HDB prices going northwards.

So much so for HDB prices collapsing [rolleyes]

If the majority of Aljunied GRC voters did not do what they did during the last GE, Mr Horse would probably still happily in the cabinet stoutly defending his "heavily-subsidised & affordable" housing & property policices.

If only money and wealth can seal and block corruption/greeds as per old man's wisdom, maybe at least 1000 x 100 tons of gold will be needed to hold him down..... :D

As the saying goes "If you pay peanuts, you'll get monkeys"

the person who first this must be elated to know that it describe our leaders perfectly

should pay them less than peanuts, then we wouldn't get a bunch of monkeys chattering nonsense in parliament
