Shull Turbocharged January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 Some Anti Piracy Act US is gonna put thru their version of parliament.. music labels and hollywood supported it, but almost all internet giants (google, Wikipedia etc) are against it as it will give their govt legal grounds to censor the internet.. If US adapt this, SGP will more prob follow suit with a similar law..
Sosaria Twincharged January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 Because they are protesting some law (being considered now) to increase intellectual property (IP) protection on the internet. The law is being backed up by the usual suspects - the movie-making and recording industry - who are concerned about online piracy. But there are others who view this law as an attempt by private industries to control the internet and control the flow of information. Wikipedia is protesting against the law by doing a 24-hour "blackout".

Sosaria Twincharged January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 Not just because of Youtube. When the law is passed, even your search results can be censored. Google search will never be the same again. Well, one good thing is that for academic work and research, students have to learn to go library and go through the textbooks again Nowadays even primary school kid just use google search or wikipedia, cut-and-paste. Even approaching adulthood, don't develop proper research skills and don't even know how to summarize and condense their findings, and draw conclusions.
