Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear January 17, 2012 Share January 17, 2012 Me and my group of Malay kakis always play soccer on a basketball court. During school days, so many schoolmates hurt playing soccer. Perhaps due to wearing glasses, they crashed into each other at full speed often. The school had to ban soccer to avoid calling the ambulances regularly. ↡ Advertisement
RadX Moderator January 17, 2012 Share January 17, 2012 (edited) actually just think a bit deeper. no chinese is more than just ppl want to make money. you hardly see chinese on soccer field like you hardly see malay on basketball court. deleted.......hard truth Edited January 17, 2012 by RadX
RadX Moderator January 17, 2012 Share January 17, 2012 There is a hard truth to this as how hard the other truths have been. Sorry but read this and you get the gist http://www.voanews.com/english/news/Former...--89677132.html In a sense, it also builds camaraderie and some sense of esteem. A lesser evil? I think it has done good. But fyi, within the team, there are still the odd eggs, like the fella who got bad temper and now play in Indon?

RadX Moderator January 17, 2012 Share January 17, 2012 I do not believe this is a racist thread. It is merely discussing the realities that happen to exist. Nevertheless, this is not to say that the Malays and Indians are not good players. they are better suited for soccer. Even the Eurasians for that matter, Remember Eric Payne? He was a hero last time. A few other eurasians BTW, my dad, played for National team back in the 50/60s.......
Kiario 5th Gear January 17, 2012 Share January 17, 2012 i think in singapore context, the malays are still better in soccer than chinese. in my secondary school(which is that time 1 of the top 50 schools in singapore, studies, not football), more than half of the school team players are already malays, there are at least several chinese/indians in the first 11. but the top school team we played against in the east zone that time, St Patrick, seem to have more non-malays. anyway, out of the group of us playing football in the school team, only 1 managed to played in the s-league, even then as a reserve player. the rest of us all(malays included) all into polys/University. Adrianli Hypersonic January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 Because we chinese are weekend warriors!!! Most of the chinese prefer to play soccer as a hobby only, me included. Just go to the soccer fields sanctioned by SSC on weekends, u can see many many amateur teams playing soccer, made up of chinese/malay/indian/expat/PRC. Even my ang mo director, he used to train with one of the bigger S-League club. I dont think the club can afford to pay him to play. Its just a career choice. Adrianli Hypersonic January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 no lah...chinese play Footsal, at country clubs [laugh] I spend my weekend evening jogging round the Sembawang River, after that rest at the Canberra Sec School field. So can see lots of weekend warriors playing their football there. The matches always refereed by a SSC approved referee. U can see they play with passion, sometimes too overzealous thou. Push one another here n there, throw punch here n there, kick each other backside here n there. I play my soccer with a group of frens during a weekday nite. 100% all made up chinese but age group from late 20's to 50's. Just running our hearts out n keeping fit at the same time. Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 as above...watching the game now why why why? You see any footballer take up a Parliament seat ? Its the 'Cert' that's important .... For a footballer, by 32 you are on downhill slide ..... but with the 'Cert', the older you get, the better your position and pay wise .... Don't believe, ask "Kee Chiew" with regards to $10 carrot cake whereas we all have to settle with $1.50 one ...

On a side note, i heard that Lee Man Hon, Lim thong hai was actually discovered by Fandi himself.

Fandi always lament the lack of chinese players in the national team ... not tat who is better... but the large pool of resources available.... plus he has met some good players... i know an ex national squad player who quit soccer cos making a living is more important... ↡ Advertisement
