WP realized the value of marketing and having a credible, charismatic frontsman.

Every blitzkrieg speech or motion will be through real current Singapore Idol.

They should seriously consider poaching Nicole and brushing up her toastmasters skills to

add a one-two combi to their inventory. Nicole's appeal with the younger generation and

the lao tikos (impulse/popularity voting) along with tempered, steady wisdom and charisma

from Mr Chen.

Come 2016, one word will be on everyone's lips, 'watershed', but not watershed as in 'divide',

but 'Watershed' as in 'Watershed Stroke' for PAP. [laugh]

We would have lost a great man serving us had he considered running for Taiwan elections instead...

hahaha with his calibre... i would think he would win hands down...

think if we throw him one on one against any MIW member, he might get the votes man...

Not too sure about him winning the Taiwan elections hands down. I am not too

sure he can rub shoulders n play the politician game in dirty murky world of Taiwan politics. He is too good for that. In fact, I don't see him as one who really know how manage a ministry if he ever becomes a minister. From his speech, his ideas and beliefs are fresh and forward looking. Like pointing us to new directions. In short, he is a visionary. How we need this type of leaders in this day and age.

he managed a big IPO and im sure his leadership and people management skills will transfer over leh. I dun think he managing a ministry vs managing a private company much difference other than the people in ministry tend to be more relak jackers and yes men :D

I think so too. Actually I agree with one of the articles I read. IMHO, few people actually mind that the ministerial pay is high, if only they can turn in good results!

It's only when there are screws-ups glossed over quickly, say sorry, then still expect high salary - I think this is what really turns people off.

LHL has said high pay is needed to build a strong team. spend 45 min selling it.

Only mentioned 'accountability' in he will be the one holding his ministers accountable.

Means they must please him in order to get the requisite bonuses now that pay is cut.

This whole episode has consolidated his power interestingly. Masterly. [laugh]

Didnt know that. Then they should just roll over and give him a ministry to run lah. Heck, give him the proposed ministerial pay becos he has the calibre!

So MG Chan is capable ??

They would rather give the Title of Acting Minister to a totally inexperience guy then to try out CSM.

To be fair, I think both are capable lah, now that a bro highlighted in an earlier post to me that CSM ran an IPO before. What set CSM apart from other new MPs is that he looks and speaks like as though he can really lead this country.

One of the qualities to be a good leader is having good public speaking skills. CSM and LKY are the ones who possess this skill while most of the rest in the cabinet are seriously lacking of it. It is ironic that many a times, citizens "misunderstood" our leaders' comments posted in the media. If our leaders are lacking of the ability to voice their views clearly to the citizens, he/she should be going back to primary school and start learning from the basics.

CSM's speech is really good. Clear, straight to the point, easy to understand and entertaining. I like the way he uses quotes from other people (not carrot cake or mee siam) to back his views up and he always got this smile on his face. His mandarin speech is also very tok gong! Smooth to the ears and brain unlike most others in the Parliment, painful to the ears. Don't know what the **** they saying, no pauses and try to blah everything out asap so that they can go back and stone.

In terms of public speaking skills, he beats the whole lot of papies hands down, period.

The capability of a candidate is not a criteria in the PM's selection policy. From the speeches of the MIWs, it is very clear that one must be greedy to be paid high salary in order to join the team of under-performing clowns, not the passion to serve

Brudder,

Politics in SG is very different from other countries.

From independence day till now SG is ruled by 1 party.

If the party even give a small chance for another party to share their marbles, that day will soon be the start of the ruling party to lose its power.

Imagine if the public sees ruling party start working with opp party - the public will think - we can add more opp party to have more ideas and cooperation.

If the public sees ruling party consistently block opp party from any policy making, - the public will think - we can add more opp party to dilute their power.

Ruling Party is currently between a rock and a hard place.

What are their options ? How can they consolidate power again ? FTs is the one of the answers.

The more grateful FTs become citizens the more votes swing.

This is way FTs PRs are so cushy here.

The other answer is they start to do good from now onwards which they are trying.

Can you imagine if Aljunied GRC is not lost ? Will LTY go undercover ? Will you start seeing them walk the ground more ? Will you expect those RC functions without Red Carpet receptions and MP punctual for such ocassions ? Will you have Saw purged out ?

Its not a happy scene. Its a sad truth that for all these years they have been taking us for a ride.

they passed / made many undesireable/unfair rules during these years and the pple accepted them thru their votes!!! :o
