i have always been tinking of tis as per below:

1) why not extend another lane everywhere else and make it solely for bus usage?

2) make all the buses route travel straight and DO NOT allow any right turn, only left turn allow.

toking crap but they are making us feel tat why bus can travel right and center lane but cars paying road tax cannot travel at "bus lane"???

Why not you join LTA and execute your proposal. I cannot visualize how this is going to be implemented with efficient use of resources and w/o increasing charges imposed on the end user.

I am one who gives way cos I was using public transportation not so long ago. Maybe some ppl were born with a silver spoon and nv taken one in their lives. But how do the passengers felt when the bus just cannot leave the stop with the endless flow of traffic. When buses cannot leave the stop, oncoming buses cannot go in. What happens next...jam lah.

This van is obviously in the wrong and I will also stop behind the bus if I am unable to switch to the right lane.

But just yesterday, a bus just left the bus stop(without the mandatory give way sign), on a one-way street with me within 20m from him. Cos of him i have to slow down to almost a halt. Is it a new protocol for bus drivers to do that???

this should be scrap.now buses dashes out like nobody business thinking every bus stop is a mandatory give way to them and not only that, some cars e-brake to stop for the bloody bus and causing some accident behind when other can't stop in time.

Mandatory give way to bus means it's coming out whether you're ready or not.

I had to ebrake once bcoz of such bus drivers and now I avoid these kind of lanes.

nice song..

btw, this give way to bus scheme is stupid...

and some bus drivers abuse it.

saw many times the bus driver simply drive thru the bus bay eventhough there's no passenger alighting or boarding, he just speeds thru the bus bay to overtake all the other cars queueing on the left most lane (all lanes are jammed during peark hours) and then forces his way out (at the exit end of the long bus bay) back onto the main road.......

we thought the give-way to bus rule is to help bus exit after passengers get down/up..... not as short cut to force into other drivers' path? :o

pay thousands for scholars to come out with this crap idea.... <_<

pay millions for a minister to approve this stupid scheme..... [shakehead]

in fact some bus-lanes are empty most of the time (only a few bus routes use the street) while other lanes are packed with cars for at least 1km daily during peak hours...... these scholars must really get out of their aircon office and open their eyes..... the under-utilised lane effectively reduces the road capadity by at least one third to one quarter..... :o bus-lane = white elephant

when traffic is slow or there's a jam, everyone should accept some slowing down in their journey, including buses. The buses shouldn't expect everyone to stop, ebrake for them...... a fairer rule will be the bus shouldnt immediate dash out as and when the driver feels like, the bus driver should wait for a few cars to pass and then move out... this takes two-hands-to-clap, ie the other drivers should also give way when they see the bus has already waited and let a few cars pass....

I was about to post something on this...cause i had experienced...

1) OK....I am at fault because I didn't realise I need to give way...The bus didn't bother to look or check and just move out....Luckily I manage to stop in time...Sorry to those behind me for the shock...

2) Just two days ago...I had a retribution...I became the car behind the car which jam brake...ok...i had a shock as well but no accident...

So I was wondering...if it is not a busy road...it is just a matter of seconds before the bus can move off...if it is such a jam pack road...the normal yellow box will have solve the problem...

So why we need this special box?? Someone keeping his ricebowl by giving stupid ideas?

And I have seen bus bus driver switching to either right signal or hazard light when in bus stop even before they are ready to move out...so it actually create a safety hazard...because u never know when the bus is really turning out...so it indirectly means that any car would need to stop as long as there is a bus in the bus stop just to be safe...

Can we have better ideas if there is really a problem with bus leaving the bus bay instead of this hazardous matter...

i nearly rear ended the car infront when he's e-brake in the middle of bus stop just to let the bus drive out.

I agree that it takes 2 hands to clap. I am not siding anyone but since so many ppl here are against this solution which created some other problems. As a driver myself, I also have a fair share of problems with reckless or careless bus drivers.

However, we should also look at this from their side. If you are involved with any org that receives feedback about long bus waiting time. You will see the 2 sides of the story. Not only passengers on the bus complaint that they are running late. Passengers waiting for a long time also complaint. In the eyes of ppl who complaint, many would want the authorities to place their interest on a higher priority rather than meeting somewhere in between. Sometimes I wonder why ppl are less likely to be critical over their statements when writing in complaints.

I too file complaints at times but will add on with realistic suggestions taking into consideration the interest of everyone when drafting the proposed plan. Talk is always free. Spend time to help the authorities gets things moving a whole lot faster.
