ANyone knows where can I purchase a small footprint backless booster seat? Like this http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/CAR-BOOSTER-SEA...#ht_3223wt_1026?

The backseats already got a full size child seat for the baby, need to squeeze in another booster seat for my old child, and another adult.

I bought it from Fairprice Jurong Point for 32$. It has hand rests but they are within the foot print of the seat.

Thanks, it will be placed in the middle backseat so not sure the handrest/horn will made it bulky.

I think that the overall surface area should be the same for both. I have not seen any without handrests so far

4th Gear

Can try the 2 kid's stuff mart along Bedok North. ShangLee industrial.

Google for Baby Hypermart or Baby Kingdom.

They allow you to bring the item to your car to try out, which I think is important to get a good fit.

Cheers!

Just the bottom booster seat should be around $30.

No need to get the expensive full back type.

Perhaps you are right if the child is much bigger (like 1.1 to 1.35m) as the normal seat belts position may be appropriate with the boosted height.

However parents should not attempt to save about $150 or less to safeguard their children when the full back booster seat can be more effective than bottom-only design (worse if these have no sturdy "horns" for proper positioning of lap belt) . They would have proper slots for the seat belt to go through so that it would not go onto neck or off shoulder of child.

Silver-blade (post #55) has made a good point that design and sturdy construction of booster seat is very important. Surely our children are worth more than $30 !! Foolish to have a false sense of safety.

Have 2 kids, 4+, and 1+. both are always in baby/toddler/child seat.

They are in these seats the day they left the hospital after they were born.

Nothing to be envy or lucky about.

Can't expect all the while the kid is free and easy in the car and suddenly all of sudden at age 2+,3yrs must belt up.

That would also mean all these while these parents are endangering the kid!

It is very encouraging that you and many parents in this forum are not only concerned about the safety of your own children whilst travelling in you cars (not because of fear of being fined by TP) but are sharing how you have overcome the problems/tantrums/resistance in getting the child secured.

Certainly starting from infancy helps. Safety requirement comes first over child self-will. "Not fastened, no enjoying trip" policy will soon make child comply (for his own good).

Expensive ("branded") booster seat does not necessarily equal safest but very cheap ones may actually endanger. Best is they have some certified safety standards like from TUV, BS (British Standard), etc. The pink one posted by Bernscp76 is certainly NOT safe as booster seat in a moving car.

I showed my ah boy and ah girl YouTube on car accidents, car crash tests. This made them understand how important theirchild seat and booster seat is.

Good method for children who are old enough to understand. Videos can explain better than a thousand words.

Those who are looking to buy proper in-car booster seat for their children may wish to check out the $99 Special Buys at Takashimaya S.C. starting from tomorrow, 24 May to 27 May 2012 (not sure if this offer extends till 10 June).

Graco Junior Maxi (high back) Booster seat (U.P. $169). At Children's Dept L3.

Good model which I bought previously (maybe from Robinsons).
