i was looking at your earlier post, where you mentioned

Do you mean that SPF stated that they permit this type of seat-belt adjustment device to be used?

and I guess, one part is friction-tightened onto the lap part of car seat belt and the triangular piece hooks on to the shoulder part. It seems to work by pulling the shoulder belt closer to the lap part.

 

My concern is how strong is that triangular hook part. Has is been tested for forces exerted on the car seat belt in a NCAP type car crash (only 64km/hr). Will part of the triangular piece give way or fracture? If yes, won't it become a missile flying towards the neck, face or head of the child?

 

I would be surprised that TP (SPF) officially permit/endorse such a device without scruntinizing adequate crash test data.

 

This device may give a false sense of security/safety ..... I may be wrong, but maybe it can be a hazard rather than a convenient safety device.

 

Perhaps you can share close-up photos of the two ends of the device and how it is actually installed and used for your child in your car.

Maybe can double up as a seat booster in restaurants that do not have booster seats who are too bid for infant high chair and yet too short for adult seatings.

Never knew inflatable boosters existed so sorry can't help with that. But as far as portable boosters go, check out this crowdfunded one: http://www.mifold.com

 

I've been tempted to get the mifold for use in taxis and overseas but am still concerned about the lack of booster height, even though mifold assures everyone that they not only meet regulations, but are perfectly safe too.

I looked at the design of the mifold.

 

I think the principle is not much different from this cheap couple of dollars stuff:

 

The inflatable bubblebum seem to do both, raise the kid seating height as well as pull the safetybelt down to prevent the safety belt cutting across the kid's neck.

Hey this looks fantastic! My twins are approaching 6 years and growing out of the car seats. My 2nd girl who is 10 was using an old Britax backless-booster seat and has now grown out of needing any boosters.

 

So my plan was to get another matching Britax or Graco backless booster for the twins.

 

This inflatable one is so much better I think

After a few shat encounter with vpost, try to avoid VpostUSA as much as I can. I once paid for volumetric weight charges for a bluray sized purchase shipped in a computer CPU sized box.

 

I don't have anything much else to buy from Amazon recently so if I can get locally I just get lor.

You're right, the mifold is all about pulling the belt down to prevent strangulation, whereas the inflatable Bubblegum takes the traditional approach of boosting height to prevent strangulation.

 

And boosting height comes with other benefits, such as giving kids more to look at, which makes them less likely to bug you about stuff.

The best news, to me, is that it's available at Robinsons since my wife and I shop there a lot. I shop at Amazon too but prefer to buy bulky items locally whenever practical.

Exactly. Whatever keeps them occupied without compromising safety (or exacerbating smartphone addiction) is a good thing. And I feel bad for my 3-year-old who's noticeably shorter than his older brother, and therefore gets a lousier view, so booster seat height's important to me for more than just safe belt positioning.

 

Er, I confess that we actually take (waste?) leave to visit Robinsons sales, precisely because we aren't fans of jostling.

I am using Britax booster seat.  Not bad...  I like full booster seat compared to just using the base.  U can detach the backrest thou...
