Tazster_t Neutral Newbie January 6, 2012 Share January 6, 2012 My father in law received a call claiming that his daughter/ my wife has been kidnapped and there was a 'kidnapped' lady in the background crying and pleading for help. Ask him to prepare $100k for ransom or he will kill her. He quickly called me to check if she's ok. This sparked and panic and everyone called my wife, who picked up her mobile saying she's ok and still at work. She later laughed saying that the lady on the phone pleaded in Chinese, which she never used Chinese to talk to my father in law.. Was bit funny but at that time, my balls also shrink.. sigh... this people are sick. ↡ Advertisement

Acieed 1st Gear January 6, 2012 Share January 6, 2012 Whether real threat or scam, you did the right thing. But don't engage in any kind of conversation, just hang up and call your closed ones immediately. It's a psychological game. Williamross Neutral Newbie January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 Well, got a scam call before, too. Told me Microsoft was alerted about the virus on my PC and that this man named Harris called up to let me know about it. Said he's more than willing to help me remove it and get my computer running smoothly again. And I was like, "Such a good man. How do we do that?" Harris: That'll be very easy, Sir. Are you in front of your computer right now? Me: Yes, I am... Hmm... What company again are you working for? Harris: We're affiliated with Microsoft, Sir. Me: That's funny. Harris: I'm sorry, Sir, but what do you mean? Me: I got Mac. Then Harris hung up.

Davidklt Supercharged February 17, 2012 Share February 17, 2012 (edited) Usually, we do not use our home phone as everyone has got their own mobile phone. But today, today, the phone rang just when it was near me so I picked up. It was someone asking to be rescued. When the caller realized I was much younger when I said "Hello", the crying suddenly stooped and he quickly hung up. hahahaha. The call came from Malaysia.
