RadX Moderator January 4, 2012 Share January 4, 2012 You think *we* are rebellious? What've you been smoking? In many other countries, if the gahmen tries to pull even one-tenth of the crap they pull here, there'd be strikes, demos in the streets, nationwide paralysis and a vote of no-confidence. The P@P has it easy here, real easy. We're meek as lambs, relatively speaking, only vent (kpkb) a bit on online forums. Maybe it's something in the water. aha....the red pill
Playtime Twincharged January 4, 2012 Share January 4, 2012 why kpkb about finding talent for ministers why must ministers only from PAP there is one at WP that is capable to be minister that is only taking only 15k per month the people of singapore can save alot of money Very true. How many PAP ministers now actually took a pay cut to enter politics?? I wonder how much did CSM earn before he gave it all up, thats a big pay cut for sure. I suspect people in the private sector dont join the PAP because they dont like it, not because they want more money. If you are a pte sector high flier, money is the best way to reject joining the PAP... or any govt, without offending them.

If you are a pte sector high flier, money is the best way to reject joining the PAP... or any govt, without offending them. Their great success, in rewarding themselves handsomely by law, has invited floodgates of many wannabes joining the party, trying to rub shoulders with party heads, being Apple Polishers and most try to take advantage of the system and get really good perks. The luckier ones are chosen to run for elections. Most, if not all, are extremely poor speakers, that's my observation. Those who are successful in the Pte Sector do not need to join the party for reasons like you've mentioned. Most people join a Political party, not for money or power. WP is a fine example. If ever they become very successful, will they end up in the same path ? My Answer is a Yes. Money corrupts the noblest of hearts. Watwheels Supersonic January 4, 2012 Share January 4, 2012 I apologize if I sound faithless. But this pay cut thing is just not convincing. Sure they can benchmark the pay with top earners of pte sector but things like allowance, variable bonus, bonuses, stocks etc do not have a benchmark and the so called pay cut & pension could jolly well be "redirected" to these additional pay. This to me is just a show put up to pian gin nah. In the first place why they get so highly paid as compared to other leaders is by using one trick. That's to privatize govt org. By doing so the org CEOs get same pay as any other pte companies' CEO pay. Eg. MRT CEO gets $2mil, let's say, dan transport minister cannot be possibly be getting smth less dan her, right? Other countries' leaders are not so highly paid cos their govt org are state run. Ppl working under the ministers are not paid much to begin with. Cannot be the subordinate earn more dan the boss. See the pattern? If our ministers really get pay cut dan every mother's sons & daughters working in the govt org have to get a pay cut too. So do you still think that they are getting a pay cut? Get real...

KARTer 2nd Gear January 4, 2012 Share January 4, 2012 SO ARE THOSE IN THE COMMITTEE TELL US THAT ARE CURRENT MINISTERS WERE AND ARE OVER PAID A logical conclusion will point to that. Making good of overpaying should not be subject to cut-off date for backdating. If they have been overpaid, the adjustment should go all the way back where the overpaying started.... 10years ago? Porche 5th Gear January 4, 2012 Share January 4, 2012 bei pai say want to benchmark private sector pay, how many can make it in private sector. KARTer 2nd Gear January 4, 2012 Share January 4, 2012 (edited) look at the overall trend, it still too little. LHL was single handedly responsible from raising his own salary from 1.1m to 4m. In terms of salary to GDP ratio, we are the still the lowest even after the latest pay revision. When LHL's pay shoots up four-folds, does the income of the peasants gain the same percentage ie he deserves the pay rise by making the same improvements on the income of the pple he's serving? have your and say 70-80% of your frens' income gained the same percentage increase? LHL promises the pple many more Good Years... actually for himself only? Edited January 4, 2012 by KARTer
