Nephilim 1st Gear January 1, 2012 Share January 1, 2012 Is the overall weight of your ICE a consideration for you guys here? I track my car (and sometimes even listen to my music on the track!) so am looking for a lightweight system for my car. I'm not a hardcore audiophile (my source is just my iPod) but I do need to be able to hear my music above my exhaust roar (moreover car's a convertible ) Has anyone here built your system according to such requirements? ↡ Advertisement

So got to see how sensitive you are to the " weight" of your car :) Hope this helps Cheers p.s what car do you drive?

One of our fastest trackkie (who can't live without a good sound system) is doing something similar to what you've described. Only though he's running active Genesis 4 x 100W paired with Morel speakers + Elate 10" sub driven by a monoblock. He takes out the sub but leaves his amp + monoblock in the car whenever he tracks. The Genesis is supposedly one of the lighter ones around at <3kg but I'm looking for other options based on my existing config. To elaborate further, my car already has a 9887 HU + a 5kg Celestra 2 x 75W amp paired with CDT Euros + dynamat soundproof done to my two doors (total < 3 kg but still a bit regret ...) So far this combo has served me well (albeit no sub) but as I plan to transfer my 5kg amp to my wife's car, I'm taking this opportunity to look for a suitable lightweight amp that would pair well with my CDT Euros. Also If you recall, my music is mostly dance, rock etc. which probably leans more to SPL rather than outright SQ so I dunno if I need a sub which for some reason I've been doing fine without one. P.S. My car is a H-badge + convertible + loud exhaust - should be obvious enough :)
