OMG.... are you..... CSM in real life?? or his sifu?? So sorry to put you into a situation. What is your version of CSM=? There is some truth of what you mentioned. Example: after carrying a 6-month old baby for a few minutes, the baby refused to return to her mum. Just the other month, I met a small boy in a lift with his mother. I returned a smile to the smiling boy. The mother said: say good-bye to uncle. The by waived and said good-bye. I said shake hands and stretched my right hand. The boy happily shooked my right hand. Then he stretched out his left hand for another hand shake. Of course I obliged him. Edited January 5, 2012 by Good-Carbuyer

CKP 3rd Gear January 11, 2012 Share January 11, 2012 PUB 'has done well managing floods for 40 years' Published on Jan 11, 2012 Despite the recent flood episodes, national water agency PUB has done well to manage the drainage and flood situation in Singapore in the past 40 years, acknowledged the expert panel. -- PHOTO: LIAT TOWERSDespite the recent flood episodes, national water agency PUB has done well to manage the drainage and flood situation in Singapore in the past 40 years, acknowledged the expert panel. This, despite rapid urbanisation, which makes it harder for rainwater to seep into the ground. Singapore's storm drainage, said the panel, also compares well with other metropolitan areas. Civil engineering professor Yong Kwet Yew, who is vice-president of the National University of Singapore and one of the panellists, noted that the number of flood-prone areas has been reduced dramatically. CKP 3rd Gear January 11, 2012 Share January 11, 2012 (edited) Expanding Stamford Canal 'not a long-term option' Published on Jan 11, 2012 The panel of specialists set up to look into the flooding problem dismissed the idea that the Marina Barrage contributed to floods in Orchard Road in 2010 and December last year (left), saying the barrage's influence did not extend that far upstream. It suggested that a better way would be to reduce and delay the flow of rainwater into the canal, and to divert the excess flow elsewhere. This could be done, for example, with small storage tanks along the canal's route, or by building a diversion canal upstream of Orchard Road, leading to the Singapore River. I wonder if they consult a panel from the IHM? So simple also need to consult?
Vulcann 6th Gear January 11, 2012 Author Share January 11, 2012 Almost fell out of my cahir when watching the news segment on the expert panel dishing out their recommendations last night. The so-called observations and suggestions from this panel are already brought up prior by many MCF bros. FOC some more. Not sure after 6 months and the definite substantial fees plus other perks like air tickets, lodging, etc given to these folks, how much we are closer to solving this flood problem after hearing their findings. Joseph22 Turbocharged January 11, 2012 Share January 11, 2012 Look at it the other side of the coin lah. MCF give the most direct answer. they are looking at it from another point of view of - what if there is some other underlying problem?? its like us layman when our kids got fever, we just give them Panacetomol. but what if the fever is actually infuse by other problem like inflation in the throat??? anyway, this report show that their ground ppl not doing a good job to check for clogs. Jpcc Clutched January 11, 2012 Share January 11, 2012 I think winning the Stockholm water prize 2007 by adopting a "holistic approach to water resources management which made water use sustainable for different sectors of society in a unique and challenging urban island environment" is an admirable feat for PUB. However, that doesn't mean flooding is not part of the job for PUB. I am curious whether (post #73 and post #80 of this thread) - constructing 313 (some says that diverts the stamford canal) or - ION irrevocably mess up the drainage design and aggravate the flooding, and if so, will they admit or will the investigation panel highlight the root cause?? Or they will build models and compare only from Jan 2012 and onwards.
