If you want the ICS 4.03 now, you need to change the CSC to XSP. The XSP is the customisation for Singapore retailer set, it dont come with any operator bloatware.

Change CSC on Samsung Galaxy S2 with these steps

1.Just type *#272*Device IMEI# at Phone dial pad.

2.Select the CSC XSP

3.Click Install.

PLEASE BACKUP YOUR PHONE. THESE WILL RESET AND ERASE ALL CURRENT DATA!!!!

After doing the mentioned steps, plug in your phone into KIES and you will be prompt of a new firmware.

So easy ah? Then I can do it when my S2 is out of the box first thing.... [:p]

i have upgraded my SGS2 to ICS too via KIES. there are no bloatwares from either ST or SH because my phone is from ST but using SH sim card.

dunno whether if u guys are aware of this. before upgrading, remember to remove your external SD card if any or do a backup. i lost all my data in ext SD card because i didn't expect it to be affected

and how big is the ROM size? [cool]

F/W is laggy or bloated or not doesn't just depend on whether there are rubbish apps embedded. It is also depends on how big the ROM is. There are third party ROMs of merely 70MB. The larger the ROM size, the more bloated it is.

S2-Starhub can upgrade to ICS through Kies from today. I just tried and got it!

My singtel set upgraded last thu..

Some issues i see:

Compatibility of Google "Type as you talk" with GO Keyboard. GO keyboard crashes when i try to use google voice. Problem solved when i disable Google "Type as you talk"

Swype keyboard drains battery like mad. Disabled that and everything goes back to normal.

Overall UI not much different from Gingerbread 2.3.6... which makes it kinda boring..
