Hi Guys,

I am planning to go HK & Macau in Feb time.

I have been to HK thrice but last trip was about 7 years ago. Not going with kids so no intention to go Disney and Ocean park. Any new place to recommend for shopping and food? Any recommendation for hotel near Mong Kok MTR or Tsim Sha Tsui MTR?

First time to go Macau, wanna stay 2 nights there. Any recommendation for hotel less between S$150~$200? Which casino should go? Things to do other than gamble?

Thanks in advance!

be prepared to see streams of PRCs, it will be total different experience from your last visit

I think so.

My first visit was in 97, 2nd visit in 2002 and last visit in 2004. I can see the changes from the Hong konger attitude towards the acceptance of Chinese. [laugh]

Go museums & Eat....

I tell you what I remembered of Macau:

I arrived late and checked into a hotel in Coloane, went over to Taipei Village for my dinner with my wifey at around 8pm and after dinner, basically nothing much to do expect to walk around to see old buildings & casino...

Next day at Coloane, went to the "black beach", nothing much to see expect for the sand and given a choice, I would go back there for 2 reasons.

There is a store selling BBQ chicken wings and I didn't try it while I was there... I regret not trying until now...

Few bus stops at a village (got a small round about) before the black beach, got 2 famous cake shop. I took 1 cup cake from one of them and I had not tasted a better cup cake since then.

Went to Macau island, walk at the Hard Rock cafe, Venetian then to macau tourism board.. Walk around the place to find a hotel, checked into a lousy hotel... eat at the roadside.. Shop for low-end goods... Went to see dog race, won a few races. Bought the polo-t but I regret to buy (animal cruelty)...

day 3: went to HKG island... Walk by the seaside (fisherman wharf) to ferry terminal...

Regret not going to the macau car museum before I left Macau.

Things to do in Macau:

Eat: Egg Tarts, Pork Bun, Cup Cake (not famous but I find it very nice at the store I mentioned), Xiao Long Bao, got a dish with egg white & fish slice top up with egg yolk on top.

See: Museum. They are all over the place.

Casino: If that you dont go casino, how about watching Asia only dog race...

Not much shopping to do during Feb period,

Hotel: i suggest Prince Hotel (Kowloon) Tsim Sha Tsui area, it's just above the ferry terminal to Macau.

Food: depends what you want, may want to try the Sai Kong seafood, need to take taxi there.

Macau: try booking Venetain Macau, got discount for early bird, and the room is hugh enough to play catching....hahahaha

Besides Gambling, Sex and more Sex.....hahahaha

for Macau U can try staying at lisboa for less than S$200.00 a nite.can walk to grand lisboa, starworld, wynn, mgm, etc

else try the new galaxy or venetian. weekends rate are generally 20-40% more expensive

Taxis are everywhere and affordable

the smaller casinos have smaller min bet tables (i.e 50hkd for blackjack) if u wanna try yr luck

Macau is all abt gamble , eat , massage and sleep, really nothing much

Can try going over Zhuhai if you are into seafood(seafood street) and cheap shopping but avoid goin on a weekend, the custom q is horrible

else it will just be macau tower, ruins of st paul, temple and food

HongKong hotels plentiful

from stanford to langham place mong kok depending on yr budget

if u r a seafood lover, can try sai kung, lei yue mun lamma island etc. I prefer cheung chou island for seafood

u cant beat mong kok for street fare, for sai yee st to soy street just be adventurous

Temple street also good for food and many pirated vcds shops there

For hotpot/steamboat can try the restaurants at TIN HAU

Soho/Central/queens st/wellington st are areas to explore for food and drinks too

shopping-

Causway bay, TST. Mongkok, Tung chung(factory outlet) depending on what you are looking for and no of days you will be there

Have fun!
