Fcw75 Hypersonic December 26, 2011 Share December 26, 2011 Sorry to hear abt yr situation TS but you can never trust a used car dealer. The best is to whack the lowest price possible without them promising anything. Just ask them to touch up the paintwork and polish up the car for you that's it. Whatever they promise you can forget it. Once they passed the car to you that's it, don't expect much aftersales service. Use the savings you got to prepare for any repair work. Buying a used car is like that, have to set aside a certain amount for repair.
Berncsp76 6th Gear December 26, 2011 Share December 26, 2011 My view is that whether to buy new or used depends on a person's character; especially patience. A used car will require lots of due diligence, legwork, research and patience to deal with any "stunts" that the used car salesman might pull off. It will also require a calm and collected attitude towards sending the car in for corrective repairs and maintenance and a tolerance for some minor hiccups here and there. If a person is impatient, tends to make rash decisions and has a low tolerance for major or minor problems, it is far better to suck up the depreciation and buy new. Otherwise, what is the point of trying to save a few grand but making yourself and your loved ones miserable in the process? I know I am in the latter group and what makes it worse is that I have yet to own a car for >3 years. But I have no choice but to suck it up because I lack the temperament to deal with used car salesmen and/or repairs. As for whether the car is new or virgin it is a secondary consideration. As you mentioned, it has usually been taken for a joyride before taking delivery. Agree...buy 2nd hand with a pinch of salt and luck too...both my sis-in law and bro in law bought 2nd hand jazz and latio respectively also not much repair less the wear and tear parts after purchase. Saw the way those guys driving the new thaiyotas up the ramp into the container ship when I was doing my ICT at lumchabang port in Pattaya Thailand makes me
Andytanlc Neutral Newbie December 26, 2011 Share December 26, 2011 6 mth back I brought a used car from a used car dealer in woodland. They offer me a warranty of 2yrs from a workshop call Lim Tan motor Pte Ltd at sin ming. So I told up the warranty plan for $1200 Recently I found tat the gear box seen very hard to shif gear so I drive to tis Lim Tan to have a check of the problem. They found out the problem was cause by spoil gear box and need to be change. So I jus leave the car there for few day to do the gear box replacement as it was under warranty. Few day later the shop call up and say my car is ready for collection so I jus drop by to collect my car aft work. Thou I need to pay for the labour cost for the repair , but the boss told me the warranty cover parts and labour I dun have to pay a single cents for this repair haha. Tis was great so I ask them to do for me tyre change cos my tyre was not tat gd anymore. wow all in one station tis workshop have and very happy wit their service. Tks very much for tat car dealer to have intro me this workshop for warranty. Nxt time if u guys buy used car from any of the used car dearler can ask them to get warranty from tis company. The gd point is they will inspect the car and replace parts tat is spoil in order to take up tis warranty. So u can have peace of mind. Who will cover a car which have problem rite. So if car cover warranty by them sure to be problem free. Worth paying the money for tis warranty if not I will have to pay more to replace the gear box. Picanto 3rd Gear December 26, 2011 Share December 26, 2011 Did not send for inspection because it was recently inspected, I saw the status was B which i felt it is normal for a 6 year old car. a car graded B cannot be so problematic one. maybe you should call the inspection company and ask for an explanation
Detach8 5th Gear December 26, 2011 Share December 26, 2011 (edited) i have not dealt with your dealer at turf city but i have dealt with mega auto swift a long time ago, it was not a pleasant experience either. if you want details, you can PM me. anyway... i've gotten over how to buy 2nd hand cars. i always budget $1-2k for repairs. i also know a trustworthy mechanic who will check the car for me. it takes a while to start knowing the ins and outs of the trade. to me, as long as the car have no accidents... you buy 2nd hand, you bear the 2nd hand risk. car is mechanical + electrical. it will surely show signs of wear and parts will fail shortly after 3-4 years. if you are prepared for it, you wouldn't have been so upset by how the car dealers work... afterall they're just a middleman. Aeras-95 Neutral Newbie December 26, 2011 Share December 26, 2011 Agree... Think sometime the problem lies with the buyer, too high expectation, not the car having problem, wether graded A or B.

I-LOVE-CARS 1st Gear December 26, 2011 Share December 26, 2011 Did not send for inspection because it was recently inspected, I saw the status was B which i felt it is normal for a 6 year old car. An expensive lesson to learn, but next time what ever the dealer promise, must ask him to write it down black and white and ask him to sign or u can record down what he promised so that he cannot go against his words, i guess that is the best way to prevent this things from happening... Hondaairwave Neutral Newbie December 27, 2011 Author Share December 27, 2011 Yes. Actually i make a report to CASE, and paid $10 bucks for the report. But I did not pass to JDM because CASE added that they can ignore my request. They added to say that the only thing i could do is SUE them to court..but it will be a long battle. Any advise bros? Hondaairwave Neutral Newbie December 27, 2011 Author Share December 27, 2011 The problems with the car so far. 1. BOOT Leakage, Mega Swift change the rubber seal for the boot cover but it still leaks, I suspect the leak is coming from below, not the top. because my other things on top of the spare tyre compartment is not wet, the only "flood" is in the spare type compartment. I have yet to bring it to them for the repair, as JDM boss Jason have told me that they will warrant this repairs. 2. The charger have been fix, paid $200 for this 3. The water pressure pump/ the engine mounting / Rear Brake Pads / battery / coolant and heath checks- paid $2100 talking about replacing brake pads, mega auto swift actually lost the "theif proof wheel nut", then my workshop could not take out the wheels, so in the end I bought a new set of wheel nut at $75, but still have to go to PM to unscrew the old nuts, because only PM have the tools. :(
