Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 24, 2011 Share December 24, 2011 Didn't see the accident so I cannot judge also. From my view, bikers in Singapore like to straddle lanes when they have the right to occupy whole lane on the roads. It's true that straddling lanes for bikes bring more conveniences than riding in the lane, but they put themselves in danger of being in drivers' blind spot 70% of the time. I have encountered many motorcyclists who like to stay behind my vehicle diagonally and sometimes it's so noisy I cannot hear their bikes, luckily my ML days force me to always turn my head and check my blindspots (my Subaru blindspot is damn scarey), then I will see them. These motorcyclists like to follow me for a good distance before they gam wan overtake or move back into lane. How dangerous if I never check and just jit tao change lane? For taxi drivers, no need to say so much, we know their por, most are really ganalan. I was told in Japan, they call it suicide vehicle. At the same travelling speed, the motorcycle needs much longer braking distances. Unless travelling between lanes (where the motorists' blindzones are, allow longer braking distances. ↡ Advertisement

Superhino 1st Gear December 24, 2011 Share December 24, 2011 true true. Squeezing into every holes they see. Keep it neutral, RIP... Young reckless drivers also.....speeding dangerously to squeeze on merging roads! I think most of us having bad impression on taxi drivers because of their disgusting and inconsiderate driving attitude while on the roads. As for this case we should hold our comments pending investigation.

Davekiat Clutched December 24, 2011 Share December 24, 2011 These are among those I call suicide cyclists who refused to read the Highway Code. It is legal to for cyclist to cycle 2 abreast while cycling on the road. The highway code states that no more than 3 cyclist should be cycling abreast of each other than overtaking 2 cyclist who are reading abreast. And it is also mandatory for motorist to leave a 1.5m gap when overtaking cyclist on the road. I am appalled by the numbskulls who drives our road thinking they own the road.

TMCTR Neutral Newbie December 24, 2011 Share December 24, 2011 Axela525 bro, was that the very Taxi that hit the biker? Or did he just jam brake because of the biker's body? I picture it that the taxi hit the biker and jam brake, but then drove off again,

Each individual has different tolerance for such rapid dehydration which affect their judgement. You never know when the one cycling abreast with you would suddenly snapped and crashed into you. Cycling a 2 abreast is not recommended for safety reason. I had seen and encountered some such instances. I no longer participate in peleton cycling. Can share with us which Highway Code states that it is legal to cycle 2 abreast, other than for overtaking?

I believe Caucasions are more likely to be affected by the local climate as well. I mean anyone can be temporarily mentally retarded enough at that point in time by the dehydration, to do any suicide cycling.

Can share with us which Highway Code states that it is legal to cycle 2 abreast, other than for overtaking? Not sure which highway code states 2 abreast is legal. But I was personally told by a TP who stopped me that it is legal. And it is recommended because its safer. Cars will have to change to the next lane to overtake rather than squeeze past. Based on my personal experience this is true cuz when I cycle alone cars will overtake me while they are still in the same lane as me. Whereas if cycling abreast with another cyclist the car has to go further out and usually they'll just change lane since they are already so far out. As for the dehydration part seems weird cuz most cyclists I cycle with do drink some water at regular intervals and I have never encountered anyone who suddenly snapped. Wavedancer Neutral Newbie December 25, 2011 Share December 25, 2011 It is not a case of dehydration or not, you can carry water bottles, there are also fixture to fit one to the bike frame. It is the mentality. Lim Chu Kang, Kranji Road, it is a single lane traffic and they ride 3 to 4 abreast, effectively blocking the whole lane, forcing motorist to drive at their speed. It is not the ang mohs but local people. Just station some men in white and summon them for inconsiderate riding. I had tried giving gentle taps on the horn, just doesn't work. They bunched up more instead, safety in numbers. Just like a herd of buffaloes. Maybe the heat went into their brain as well. ↡ Advertisement
