TameDriver Twincharged October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 Sibeh heng I didn't go up on sunday. But traffic generally very light, except weekend afternoons towards Kea Farm & in evenings on roads leading to Brinchang Town & it's night market. Wanted to extend stay but I reckoned it's a waste of time there since the air quality there is as unhealthy as that back home in SG.
TameDriver Twincharged October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 (edited) Views from local residents's apt blocks on higher ground above Tanah Rata: For those who has never been to CH or not familiar with the weather there, the scenery may appear 'romantic' but in reality, it was due to the haze. TameDriver Twincharged October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 Last morning on CH, taken b/fast of Yong Tau Foo at this small family run shop along the driveway of Copthorne: Passed by this carpark in Tanah Rata, opposite Starbucks, still nowhere near completion. Was there last June. Saw a notice that stated works completion this April! Going down via Tapah route. Boring; gentle slopes, short level curves, many slow big/small vehicles & small coaches. 2BDriver Hypersonic October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 (edited) Brightly lit & spacious parking in B2 & B3 of Nova. It's very convenient; direct from carpark to the room levels. However, I find this arrangement compromises security/ safety; no card access needed in the lift that takes one to room level, even as security guards made frequent rounds on bicycles & motorbikes among the parked cars. IMO. image.jpg I saw Cameron Square beneath NOVA HOTEL which is opposite the steep slope drive up to Sungai Palas Boh Tea Factory & Brinchang Gunung peaks in my previous CH trip. What is the damage for 1 night stay at NOVA HOTEL ? Do NOVA HOTEL serve continental breakfast ? Edited October 6, 2015 by 2BDriver
TameDriver Twincharged October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 (edited) I saw Cameron Square beneath NOVA HOTEL which is opposite the steep slope drive up to Sungai Palas Boh Tea Factory & Brinchang Gunung peaks in my previous CH trip. What is the damage for 1 night stay at NOVA HOTEL ? Do NOVA HOTEL serve continental breakfast ? I paid weekend rates for 2 nights, no breakfast included, which is fine by me. Saw a small sign at reception, I think it's RM18 pax for breakfast. The picture featured a short buffet table. Actually don't need hotel buffet breakfast becos there're plenty of places one can get good decent food. For those with more family members along, the room I had could easily sleep 4-6 more with sleeping bags. Had seen local families streaming in and out of their rooms. The thing I like about holiday in Malaysia is they don't care how many ppl you bring in the room, which is a very good thing for ppl who go in odd numbers (3, 5, 7). Even if 6 person, pair of adjoining room is just right. If on budget, a family of 6 can go in 1 double room too.

The Tapah road seems narrow....like no way you can stop on the roadside.

Certain parts of Tapah route can overtake and stop. Near the waterfall, the road is a little wider. Can stop by the side visit the waterfall and shops. That's a Hamann tuned BMW 5er.........but not mine. :( Tapah route has plenty of Lay-bys for drivers to rest or purchase produce from the Orang Asli. Actually, I find the numerous short & level gradient curves monotonous after a while. I think first timers or slow drivers should be alright on this route; just keep to speed limits & don't do it at night.

Fattychubby 1st Gear June 18, 2016 Share June 18, 2016 Bros, just back from Cameron highlands too. Stayed near brinchang / tana ratah. The place isnt as cooling as i had expected ( my first time there) and the morning heat and sun is unbearable. It only starts to get cooling in the evenings and night time :) perhaps it was a weekday ( during the school holidays) traffic is light and all the farms/plantations are not crowded. overall still quite a nice experience . For first timer, i do not suggest using the Tapah way up as it is winding and curvy . roads are also full of pit holes.

With all the illegal logging and farming, Cameron Highland no longer as cool as 20 - 30 yrs ago. Simpang Pulai is always the better choice since it is open. I had ride on this stretch before on bicycle. ↡ Advertisement
