KARTer 2nd Gear December 19, 2011 Share December 19, 2011 Now trains are not certain/safe, taxi fares have gone up, COE is expensive, what's left for the pple? Walk, or cycle? If cars population reduces due to high COE, maybe its time to convert one lane for bicycles? Alternatively: Total ban of private cars in CBD (larger radius than current 'CBD', may be extend the CBD radius to places like Newton Station ie one more station away from current CBD boundary?). Build more fringe carparks (for those insist of driving from home, they park at fringe carparks, then use rental bicycle to reach office), and more private buses (for those who stay far from fringe carpark but dont drive). At these fringe carpark, LTA provides cheap rental bicycle (can be electric bikes also) for commuters to exercise the legs and cycle to their work place. For those who die die must drive into CBD, or take cab into CBD: high ERP which LTA can only use to buy more bicycles for rental. In fact revenues from COE/ERP must be substantially channelled to buy these bicycles, or even build sheltered bicycle lanes and parking stations. Of course our $$$ minded govt/LTA must have a different sets of 'Leaders' to seriously consider this system which benefits the pple instead of the elites. We all know how to change the leaders..... but will we, comes next GE? Its up to us. ↡ Advertisement
Pocus Turbocharged December 19, 2011 Share December 19, 2011 As much as people like to voice their frustrations.....why not we just consolidate all MRT issue related stuff to 1 or 2 threads? suddenly the MCF got like 30% thread on SMRT issue started by domaint MCF members. It's december man! holiday time man.....read too much of these kind of thread very depressing...
Gukubird Neutral Newbie December 19, 2011 Share December 19, 2011 How about only Eiltes and FT can drive? Singaporean and SPR can only take public transport? In exchange, all Singaporean and SPR will have free education and medical? And death penalty for death caused by drunk drinking or reckless driving? Bicycle lanes will bring suicide cyclists in stampede, causing more accidents (I am also law-abiding cyclist) LTA already dismissed all subsequent suggestions as lack of space... Recently I seen more mis-leaders than leaders. So sorry about that.

I believe more people excited by holiday mood more agonised with such threat to our year-end holiday (so far it seems SMRT capable of only temporary repairs: can break down again anytime/anywhere). It does make sense if that is the Elites' protocol (Singaporeans becomes 2nd class citizens in 3rd world country at home). Nothing is free. Drunk driving or reckless driving with tree trunk is alright?
