Haha. You ask them of course they tell you just to book through them...

But walk in to the showroom with the piece of paper in your hand and it depends on their stock levels and sales numbers for the month but usually they will fall off their chair to try and do a deal with you and stop you walking to their competitor instead.

Did it once before years ago with Champion Motors, I had my price and they had their "best" price, about $2k difference... Couldnt agree so I left the showroom and was waiting along the road in front for a cab when the SE call me back "talk again to his manager... blah blah.. and OK can". I had planned to leave it to the following day before calling him back and agreeing to his price, but he thought I was on my way down to the FIAT showroom. So really its all just a question of who blinks first... [sly]

So my first choice is the XV, second choice is the Fiesta (Fun to drive and very economical but a bit small) and third choice would be a Vezel (Multiple PI so very easy to use your own COE, some even list price excluding COE)

Spoke to the SE yesterday and apparently these are the main changes for the incoming car which is expected sometime in May..

Keyless entry

Steering wheel controls (radio/bluetooth)

Touch screen player

cruise control

Thanks for the info !

Now, I'm confused what went into the engine, the job report indicated 5w30 shell synthetic while it is actually semi-syn.

I will bring this up during my next visit, to verify.

Actually, not really a big issue, but more of good to know and a right to know too, even though it is a 5 year free servicing package.

Cheers.

Just went for first servicing today. Confirmed that the oil used is fully synthetic 5w30 not semi or mineral oil.

Showroom at TPY looks quite though... Maybe COE too high now.

Normally Subaru want to stay as close as their standard naming on the specs (less volume and not many assembly plant I think), since it is 1.6i-S, then it will probably the same high specs like Impreza, As what we have here for the Impreza 4D and 5D.

In fact during my shopping around Nov 2014, I was very tempted to book the 99k Impreza 4D.

Sigh. With hindsight should have jumped in back in Feb when i was offered at $103k...

Got greedy and was waiting for the psychologically much more desirable $9x,xxx price to appear... Sianzz

This was the time after 57k COE, which exactly the next bid that I book mine in the second week of Jan.

I got mine at 109.8k.

Yes I looked at it and the extra space was good. But it was very dull to drive. When I looked at the Spec's later I realised why.

Fiesta

Torque: 170Nm @ 1400-4000RPM

Power: 74Kw

Accel: 10.8Sec (0-100)

FC (combined): 4.9L/100km

Focus

Torque: 159Nm @ 4000-4500RPM

Power: 92Kw

Accel: 11.8Sec (0-100)

FC (combined): 6.3L/100km

So in addition to using nearly 30% more fuel than the Fiesta the Focus is also slower than the Fiesta and the Fiesta has higher torque which is also available across a much wider rev range and comes in at much lower RPM.

In short I enjoyed driving the Fiesta and its all due to the sweet ecotec engine, amazing that its only a 1.0 litre lump, it feels way more powerful. The thought of road tax of only $392/year is pretty appealing too.

I wonder if any of those who booked at 103k actually secured COE. Heard those altis buyers who booked at 100k have not gotten COE till now.

Hi New owner,

No worry on your XV, You will achieve 13-14km/L once you run-in.

I am a 1 and half year owner of this car.

A bit on the internal noise make in uneven road of the hard plastic is my only comment.

Update on my fuel consumption. For the past 2 tanks on 60/40 highway/city, I got 8L per 100km so roughly that translate to 12.5km/L.

I think the FC is about there, quite constant and I'm going to 5k servicing soon.

Just did a refuel and this is 30% highway and 70% neighbourhood start stop traffic, 71L/832km, about 11.6km/L in average.

By the way, I find the stock Geolander tyres are not really performing well especially in hard braking and tight cornering, can feel it is struggling to keep up the speed and grip. So, be careful and happy motoring!

Yes. Already resigned myself to that actually. Can always chope wife's car here and there if i need it.. :-)

Though I would expect the COE price drop (if any) to be quite steep in July once the CEVS storm has passed, so my intention is to actually bid myself and then look for car at right price with ready stock rather than getting sucked in to waiting for 6 rounds of bidding when the inevitable price rebound follows...

I agree with Subarudreamer about whether AD will sell you a car without COE and more importantly if the price sold will be fair or not?

From what I know in the past, AD will sell you at a price not in sync with the price quoted if package with COE eg if car is priced at $120k incl COE and assuming COE is at $65k then price quoted without COE should be $55k but they will sell you at $60/65k or more meaning you are worse off.

Something for you to bear in mind.

Edited: Sorry cmdsea, just noticed you have actually replied on who blinks first.

You could be right on this but IMO the popular ADs unlikely to blink (strange but that seems

to be the case). You may have to settle with the not so popular brands. Maybe you test

waters with Subaru and Ford before you bid since it's your top 2 choices? Otherwise once you secure the COE and they don't blink, you could have a problem.

The braking distance is longer, probably due to the fact that the Geolander is an all-season SUV tyre. Agree, must remind myself to keep a longer distance in case of e-brake!

By the way, I would like to check with fellow XV owners here on the auto start/stop system. I find that when I stopped at the junction with auto stop activated, the car will auto start again (after a short while, 5-10secs) especially during day time.

Could this be due to the a/c temperature settings? It is quite obvious in the last few weeks, probably due to the hot weather.

The auto start/stop will perform better in the evening/night, or when a/c is off.

All feedback welcome!

Thanks.

depends on brands.

those popular ones like toyota/honda won't entertain you.

those non popular brands should be willing to nego.

Anyone notice the Subaru XV no longer listed on SGCM since yesterday.?

http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_listing.php?MOD=Subaru

Just a glitch or is this car no longer available...?

They are releasing a new variant of the XV which is the premium version with more gadgets and electronics. The last is the bare bone car,

I have booked as a form of interest by opening a cheque but refundable should I find the pricing is not acceptable as prices not officially out and no demo car is here as yet.

but if that's the case, why bother with the cheque? giving them a cheque does not give u any benefit at all?

They mentioned should COE went up. Logically the price will went up but it shall be locked at max with the price quoted to me and interest shall be locked as well as such I see it a win win solution for me thus accept the offer. Obviously I looking to see the quoted price to drop so if it somehow maintain then I shall withdraw without any loss to me. Should COE drops then the prices also drop with possible special discount.

I liked the car thus the decision just that the price is not suitable to me based on current COE.

On the other hand, I shall have priority rights in terms of delivery and colour selection should I be keen to proceed to order.
