New Subaru XV

I guess different people have different priorities to look for when getting a new car.

For those of us on the XV, it is very much a calculated choice despite the XV lower level of nice gadgets and features. The interior of the XV looks dated too, LOL !!!!!

However, key point is the under-rated stance of the XV, the high level of safety features (widely published safety data and awards from around the world), and the unique boxer with its full time AWD, and lastly, the Lineartronic CVT which uses a metal belt instead of the typical rubber CVT belting.

Match this to the no frill 5 years warranty/servicing, enough said !

Just a quick update, into my second tank, slight FC improvement to 7.58L/100KM, based on actual calculation with 60 highway/40 city driving.

Not too bad for me liao, considering its a boxer with fulltime AWD.

That is impressive FC, translate about 13.2km/L.

I'm very light footed by the way, with speed < 90km/h on the highway.

By the way, may I check what is the rpm level when cold-starting the engine in the morning.

I have observed that the rpm is rather high at 1400-1500 rpm during a cold-start in the morning. Once warm up it will settle down below 1k rpm.

Normally, I will move off almost immediately and drive slow for the first few minutes.

Thanks!

This is completely normal especially in the early morning or cold start.

If you engage gear immediately after start, it will drop to 1k rpm and drive as per normal, not necessary wait until the Blue temperature light off.

By the way, I remember someone asking about the rpm level for certain speed, below is what I capture.

70km/h - 1.2K rpm (very low, and if lost the momentum gear up give you more power.)

80km/h - 1.4K rpm (perhaps the most relax and fuel economical stage)

90km/h - 1.6K rpm (constant quiet ride on this speed)

Tried cruising about constant 110km/h on NSHW but the FC is not impressive and frequently gear up to get more power. I reckon XV 2.0L will be much more better for long distance drive.

Hope this help.

How do you guys do your run in? Keep below 2k rpm?

I kept it below 3k rpm for the 1st 1500km, now beginning to drive it more naturally with occasional highs of 3k-4k rpm during pickup.

For CVT, it will be fruitless to step too hard on the accelerator, and I find that once the rpm reaches around 2k, it will accelerate much faster (optimum torque range) and this is where I will step "harder" to pick up more speed.

What you can hear is the engine noise loud and clear but the car is not moving that fast, so, just try to control around 3-4K rpm for overtaking or pickup, that is probably the best range for this car.

If you often drive fast and hard braking, just make sure the braking distance is good for you after the run in of brake and tyres.

Can i check with you guys if the driver side door lock button is fully illuminated?

For mine, the top half (lock button) is illuminated but the bottom half (unlock button) is not. Just wanna make sure its not a blown bulb or something.

SE told me the XV has sold out and there is currently no stock. new stock arriving soon will be sold at higher prices with more features.

Looks like the 2015 facelift coming. The speedo cluster has bluish lighting, if not wrong.

Quite surprise to know the XV actually sells quite well ! Being seeing more XVs on the road as well.

Cheers!

I think the center console and door trims are also different. If it's anything like the overseas versions, the trims should be with a lot of piano black for 2015.

Been driving for a week and I am more than satisfied with the car. I'm actually pretty surprised at how quiet the car is... Maybe it's because my old car's noisy [:p]

i can't remember the lowest price which they sold XV, but was also with CNY promotion competition when qashqai, vezel, altis etc were on sale. perhaps around 103,800 or less? very good price then prob led to the sell out, much like qashqai 1.2 and altis..

they moved the XV at the leng kee showroom to the test drive area.

Wow, interesting to know that it is out of stock now!

Certainly after the CEVS adjustment in July 2015, no more 5k rebates.

With the selling price increase, MI should consider import the UK/EU (1.6 variant is no longer available in UK) specs that come with more attractive features/gadget, like push start button, auto cruise, audio control, etc.

About the price after discount and promotion if I'm not mistaken.

Wondering anyone already receive the car with the low price, value for money I would say.
