i'm also facing this problem... and after a few months, MI still does not have any solution for it.

surprised that i didn't read much complaint about this issue in this forum.

is it really just a few isolated cases?

Does the judder still happen? Did motor image resolve the problem?

Judder happens again on 1-1.2k rpm, zzzz.

Shall have new pak file to update the gb firmware version.

But not sure will it solve the problems or not.

i did a pak update in late Jul (after waiting for several mths) and it managed to improve the situation, though not completely fix the problem.

occassionally, i still feel the juddering when slowing down and without stepping on the accelerator.

MI requested for me to bring the car back so that they can test it again.

maybe you can request for the pak update. at least for my case, it helps.

Can I say when you release the accelerator.. you can feel slightly "jerky " while car rolling? How about during moving off from stop .. low speed low rpm ? Like 1.5k rpm? Do you feel slight jerky?

when releasing the accelerator, yes, it is a bit jerky when the car is rolling, as if the "engine brake" effect is too strong. you can feel your body moving forward and backward.... it is less frequent now after the pak update.

and when moving at low speed low rpm (not necessary moving off from stop, can also be driving slowly during a traffic jam), the jerk i experienced was terrible before the pak update. it feels like the gear couldn't engage properly, just like changing gear when riding a bicycle.

but now, after updating the pak, i don't have this effect anymore.

btw, mine is the 1.6L XV without Eyesight.

which version is yours?

I was thinking of cutouts before buying but after owning it for 3-4 months, this would not be a practical idea.  I've recently installed film on the entire front windscreen and it does not affect the Eyesight performance - I use Eyesight (ACC) every time I drive.  The film is Rikecool, which not only blocks UV (close to 100%) but also a good shield for infrared red.   Workmanship is superb.  I've used Rikecool multiple times for my previous cars, and I came to this evaluation after trying out some other brands (including 3M).

Before installing the film, I was using the flip-down visor but using the visor is more hazardous as an alternative.

Eyesight at this price point is a steal - get it.  Just need to know it's there to make driving a lot easier and a second pair of eyes when the occasion calls for it.  It's not there to prevent collisions in all situations.

XV is very similar to Impreza in almost every sense, more than just SGP - you might want to follow the Impreza thread as well.

may I ask why cutouts are not a practical idea? im thinking of cutouts. lol

The Eyesight cameras are not pressing on the windscreen but there is a gap.  Added with the fact the cameras work on a range of angles vertically (and horizontally), you'll never know for sure where the limit is.  Say it's half way down the windscreen from the top, would you install a film covering only the lower half portion of the windscreen?  If it's the other way around might make sense, for blocking UV.

After 1 month of driving with the film, I've not found in anyway the film is interfering with the Eyesight.  The cameras work on visible light and not microwave.  The latter may be affected by the film.

In fact, there's only 1 occasion the Eyesight turning itself off on me and that's because it's raining and very humid with condensation all over the windscreen.

Well I just drive as per normal ..

Rev 3-4k .most of the time..

Guess I play with the braking distance....

Just let the car roll for a good distance before tap on the brake

To achieve good fuel consumption, it has everything to intimately know the characteristics of the car. For example, how fast the car decelerate when you let go of the gas, how far the car can go when you release the gas, reading the traffic and anticipating the traffic is an art. I pick up the these skills when I was driving manual for many years. It is not magical, it is awareness.
