I collected the car on 5th April 2012, almost 3 years from now. 1. Fuel consumption: You can easily get lower than 8L/100km for smooth traffic driving in sg. But if traffic is bad, it can go up to about 10L/100km. My average for >20000km is about 9L/100km. (i drive from my to sg everyday, morning custom jam....) 2. Tyre: The stock tyre lasted for 83000km for me, which i think is very very good. Changed to Bridgestone Turanza GR100 last year, can't tell the difference. Cost me about SGD1130 include alignment, balancing.. did it in motorimage. 3. Battery: Died on 77000km which is about 2 yr 3mth, changed to a new one cost about SGD 260. After driving it for so long, no complaint. I like it, good looking, good handling, really feel "confidence in motion"... especially when drive through those big puddles during heavy rain. Getting more and more XV on the road! especially in Msia. Enjoy driving!! RC malysia XV is assembled in msia.... cost down version as compare to spore xv which is imported from japan.... but one thing good is that, msia xv is 2.0 lol.... so dont play with them :-) ↡ Advertisement
Micb 5th Gear February 26, 2015 Share February 26, 2015 Hi Ruennchai, I'm wondering about the battery type. Is this a special type made for the start/stop feature? By the way, did you constantly use the start/stop feature in the last 3 years of ownership? Just wondering the effect of this feature on the start motor, battery and air con compressor. Not sure if it will shorten the lifespan of these components. It seems not, for the battery on your ride, as it lasted 2 year+ ! Cheers. I remembered seeing the battery resembling a non-maintenace free type, made by Panasonic. Cheers.

I remembered seeing the battery resembling a non-maintenace free type, made by Panasonic. Cheers. I read that cars with start stop feature needs a different type of battery - either enhanced flooded batteries or absorbent glass mat batteries. It seems XV is using EFB: Enhanced Flooded Batteries were developed for use in stop-start vehicles. The reduced cost of manufacturing EFBs is attractive for manufacturers in order to help keep overall new vehicle production costs down. The EFB design incorporates a porous fibre material, sometimes called "scrim", along with plates that are thicker than a conventional flooded battery. The use of low pressure contact material on the plates of EFBs retains the active material and improves their cycle performance which is necessary for stop-start applications. Examples of vehicles using an EFB include the Mazda CX-5, Subaru XV and the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic. Also note that conventional batteries should not be used in start-stop vehicles: The fitting of a conventional flooded battery to these vehicles will lead to premature failure, it is therefore critical to ensure the vehicle operates as per the manufacturers requirements, the correct chemistry battery application is installed. The batteries look exactly the same as a traditional flooded battery. Unfortunately there is no standard to identify if a battery is an EFB, some are only evident by their part number. Most manufacturers using these batteries have a blue/white label attached to the top of the battery indicating it can be used ‘For Stop & Start’. Think EFB should be maintenance free, but I'm not sure. Do you see any caps that can be opened to top up? Not sure if these are more expensive than normal car batteries too. Ruennchai 1st Gear February 27, 2015 Share February 27, 2015 Hi, I constantly use the start/stop function. I am not sure if this shorten the lifespan of other component, but i feel like it is not. You can feel that the start/stop operates less when the battery is going to die. The battery is maintenance free. I am not sure the market price of the battery and tyres. Maybe i got chopped...where can i find the market price? Happy new year!
Hobbes187 3rd Gear February 28, 2015 Share February 28, 2015 (edited) Anyone read this sgcarmart review/comparison between xv 1.6 vs suzuki s-cross 4wd? http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=845&PN=1 In short, reviewer thinks xv is more spacious, rugged looking and more engaging to drive. S-cross has better interior, fuel economy and more expenisve. They chose xv as (slightly) better buy. Edited February 28, 2015 by Hobbes187
Rainyday 2nd Gear March 5, 2015 Share March 5, 2015 Manage to clock 2500km now, so far so good, FC maintain around 12-13km/L, 50-50 of traffic condition. Frequently use the start/stop function and recorded about 1hour of idle time in total for each refuel (around 45-50L).

Rainyday 2nd Gear March 5, 2015 Share March 5, 2015 Moving forward there will be no CEVS rebate for XV, and will probably increase another 5k. best time to buy now before 1st July 2015. http://www.lta.gov.sg/data/apps/news/press/2015/20150223_CEVS_revised_bands_Eg_Car_models_Annex_A.pdf

Micb 5th Gear March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 Collected my XV last weekend. Still in my first tank, so far 510km travelled with 1/4 tank left, fuel economy is currently 7.6l/100km based on digital display. So far so good, need to get used to the CVT (not prior experience with CVT). Noted that the torque comes in at about 2000rpm, can feel the "pull" from there onwards. The auto start/stop can be more refined, during restarting. Back to the topic of the battery, I have noted the refilling caps, thus likely it is non-maintenance free type. Will ask the SA during my 1k servicing next week. More updates to follow. Cheers.

Rainyday 2nd Gear March 9, 2015 Share March 9, 2015 The car battery is for start stop use, I can see there is no MF sticker on it. Anyway, SC will provide battery test report during servicing, so you can leave it to them. Another refill and average 12km/L, satisfy with it. The new batch of XV come with DVD, GPS and reverse camera, but back to 109.8k now.

Seems like it, I will confirm with service advisor on the battery part also, when I send mine in for the 1k servicing this week. My first tank returned 12.6km/L, based on actual refill with 2 times auto stops. It will be "better" mileage if I stop at the first auto stop during refill. Thanks for the advise mate. Not sure if the batteries in the latest batch are different from yours. I spoke to the SA this morning, he said that this batch comes with non-MF type batteries, thus we need to monitor it. In addition, just noted that the factory filled EO is 0-W20 type, while they filled it up with W30 Shell Synthetic oil for the 1k oil change. Saw a few XVs coming in for servicing as well. The service lounge standard has dropped though, no more hot breakfast liao lol..... only a few chocolate buns with a water dispenser to make some hot drinks. : )
