Review of coming 2H 2017 new new XV:

http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=1168

Also, seems like Subaru Eye Sight safety system is finally coming to Singapore but not for the 1.6L XV - probably for higher end Subaru models.

Above article has this statement:

"The higher variant in the 1.6-litre lineup is scheduled to reach Singapore come August this year while the 2.0-litre model should be launched during next year's Singapore Motor Show, alongside the highly anticipated Subaru EyeSight active safety system."

Looks quite good unfortunately looks like no 1.6T version :(

Side wall puncture due to scraping into curb?

If so, mis-alignment may be due to the scraping/minor crash force rather than tyre replacement.

Or everyone is bluffing you and it is just left and right air pressure not pumped up equally and to proper pressure (maybe check that first)?

Yes had a curb incident. I must agree on the root cause you described as the alignment report showed the wheel affected and the misalignment to agree well with the way the wheel would've hit the curb. Just didn't make sense that changing tire was the cause. Thanks bro!

(edited)

I had an unfortunate side wall puncture and slash and had to change both front tyres 2 weeks ago (it was a rip off as tyres couldn't hold air and I was hostage)

But afterwards, my car started pulling left, the alignment was out. This week, MI suggested I do an alignment reset when I sent the car in for servicing, which I paid $85.6 for.

That brings me to ask here

1. I dont remember with previous 2WD cars having alignment issues from simply changing tyres. Is this a shared experience with other xv owners?

2. Most tyre shops I know simply slap on new tyres and send u on your way. Any alignment centers to recommend?

The alignment problem was more likely to be caused by hitting curb, nothing to do with replacing tyres.

Why Not? Difference in road tax is not really significant compared to 1.6. About $400plus difference a year. Actually, if you've noticed , the demand for cat B cars seems to be holding up relatively well over the last 18 months. This last round, in fact, saw in excess of about 600 more bids received over the quota available. Cat A, on the other hand only saw an excess of about 400 bids.

Yes. Agreed.

A 2.0L XV will be a lot better driver than the under power 1.6L XV.

Only Singapore like big car with small engine. Unless it is turbo, than it will be different cases.

A 2.0 XV would have been priced closer to a Forester which woudl then become a challenge to market as it would seem to compete with its own. The 1.6 is brought in to compete with the likes of other crossovers in the market like HRV/Vezel and QQ.

In Malaysia where the XV is offered in 2.0 variant, the difference between the 2.0i-P variants of the XV and Forester is about S$4K. Note that with COE coming in to play, a bump from Class A to Class B, the difference may be smaller.

Can i know is it worth it to trade in with MI?

Seems like the price is very low compare to those resale cars.

My OPC ending dec 2018 and they offer like only 4.5k. :x

feel very short change.

The OMV 13.5k what is the significance?

my resale value oso low?

seems weird MIJ car cheaper than mazda honda (tom yam ones)

Note that the new XV may not come with the reverse camera, it is not factory fitted but MI may fix it locally.

Please ask about this and feedback if you are booking the new one.

How can a New model does not come with a standard feature like this

FYI

Is it more worthwhile to buy on launch date? More freebies, better discount? But maybe wait longer for car to arrived?

MI discount policy of 8 bids no guarantee is not very attractive. Have to wait 4 months.

Actually even though MI claimed 8 bids non-guaranteed, I managed to get my COE on 1st attempt in the last bidding cycle.

I was following the bidding process closely (being an eager XV owner).

MI submitted first bid of $46,101 followed by a revised bid of $47,101 when the highest qualified bid was approaching $40K mark.

That gave me a lot of assurance that they were more than keen to help their customers secure their COE.

So, waiting to pick up my XV this week. :)
