Within a few months, the hype will be over. Nowadays people's attention span on new things getting shorter and shorter. 

Price would probably be not cheaper although the variety may be wider. People just go there look see look see, or through recommendation via social media or online, then go online buy cheaper. 

 

Probably in 2 to 3 years time they scaled down the shop and moved out to an suburban mall or close down entirely.

True, such store dont think can last long here de, since there are many other stores also sell the same thing, i dont see a need to go to apple store lo.

Do you see Tiffany and co move out of Ngee Ann city or Gucci move out of Paragon after donkey years? these companies has money to spend and not all about sales. Apple can even buy the building if they want.

This is Apple official store. There's a difference when you buy from Apple official Store/Online store versus authorised retailers. Treatment when coming to warranty claims also got difference de.

 

People who prefer to pay full cash can buy physically from Apple official store and there's no need to kneel down.

 

People who prefer to buy online can continue to buy from Apple online store.

same same. no difference. no need to pay delivery charge also if exceed certain amount (most will exceed anyway except some small accessories).

 

Buying physically also has an advantage of being discrete if you don't want busybodies in your office to know what you are buying. Delivery to home can be a hassle unless you have someone to receive.

The SG Apple store is not a profit center, therefore its retail sales performance is not important to the Group

 

Its core functions are:

 

1. Branding and image positioning

2. Customer experience center aka display/showroom for its products

3. Service center

 

The design of the store will most likely have a small store room to keep inventory for sales, but large open areas for display or customer engagement. (when you buy online, one concern is that you worry about how the actual product feel will look like, hence showrooms/experience centres will be key for the skeptics to see the product in real life, before going home to buy online)

 

this is the future of consumer products retail, where online sales is the core channel, physical store will serve other purposes

 

 

 

so i really dont foresee them shutting down soon, unless it is to move to another more prominent place in town
