5 car Recorders put to test! Check the performances

I have conducted numerous road test on 5 models - comparing night clarity, day clarity, recording hours, viewing angle versus what is claimed on the product packaging...

If you wanna know how they fare, please visit following URL:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQCCNfHKRR0...mp;feature=plcp

My conclusion is:-

- IR LEDs for night clarity is useless

- many specifications are over-stated.e.g. viewing angle, G-sensor, HD quality, etc

- HD quality does not equal to clarity. You may get lousy clarity with a BiG file which shortens your recording time.

- There are many objects cannot be seen on a lousy night recording clip.

Watch to believe... The choice is yours!

Maybe because he is selling it. :D

I googled Vigi and a a link show that a person called Kenney is selling it....hmmmm...

http://techielobang.com/blog/2010/04/15/vi...h-video-within/

I bet my last dollar that he is selling it... 1st model states MTDR920 while the rest is anonymous MIC1 - 4..

Ma chiam like Ma ma lemon vs the other dish detergent..

Therefore, objective of test should be "to increase sales" through comparison.. It's ok to sell on Youtube but don't hide the agenda until like that.. [blush]

haha..

Many thanks for your responses. I loved them all.

(1) @ Poper, FCW75 - Yes! You are correct. My company is distributing ViGi Vehicle Video Recorders.

However, this report was done in the position as a expert user. All tests are conducted in a professional manner.

Objective is simple - share the information correctly and eradicate the myths about IR-LEDS and MIC paper marketing e.g. cheap HD resolution options, over-stated viewing angle.

(2) @ macrosszero - I can't put in other brands for the test. 2 simple reasons:-

- first, no one would loan me their sets for test.

- Second, I could get myself in legal trouble if I list any brands into the comparison, except my own and "Brandless" OEM supply.

(3) @ Ahrex - I do not know how much the MIC models are retailing for... what i know is MIC#2 is the most expensive among all and MIC#4 is the cheapest. I loan them from a close friend.

Hope the above clears the air.

Cheers!

@Nf0rc3r - Yes. It is not 3rd party review. However, I dun think there is any 3rd party could do a VVR review for now.

Like I have explained, I wrote the comparison report as a expert user (not as a seller) - becoz I handled VVRs almost every day in the past 3 years. Hence, I have accumulated a wealth of VVR knowledge.

Nevertheless, if you could help me obtaining the permission to write (and compare) on another brand/model. Please let me do it.

Thanks : )

I would loved to see a "crash of the Titans" between ViGi and other hot brands available locally though.. Anyway, at least one thing I learn from your clip - Cheap china brand (i assumed) really CMI.. [knife]

btw,

i dun see any reason why anyone should discount the information.

If anyone have doubts about the material, please feel free to let me know.

I will be glad to let you view the actual recording clips of all the models mentioned in the document.

I can spare time for that. However, I need that person to mention what he sees during the session.

@Poper - this task is really challenging and sensitive for any brands to do it (for other rival brands)

It would be the best if a neutral motoring-related media owner could do it.

You guys should try the papago, available at 4th or 5th level sim lim sq. Got to see it to believe it. Very sharp and clear, good even in the night. They play out the video on a lcd tv/monitor so you really see how good it compares to those normal china ones.
