closest i can think of is nissan 370Z. Japanese reliability somewhat there la and it's v6 NA engine shouldn't be as problematic compare to GTR in terms of maintenance, servicing etc. Styling quite there and i dare say better looking than s2000, rx8.

alternatively you can buy an alfa romeo 159 and swap a k20A engine in. Just saying.

Agreed....but it is only a 2 seater.

Despite recalls in recent years, Jap reliability is still hard to match (at least in the 'affordable' segment in the market). Alfa etc give us the soul and beauty.... where to find a car which combine the two?? :o

Nissan Juke & Honda Civic got the hidden door handles of Alfa 156 & 147

Mit Evo got the side license plate for almost all Alfas...

If that you look closely, Alfa have a long bonnet so it breaks the shape to a sleeker look.

Roof line appears long as the body is abit high... But with the curves, it breaks the high body look which blends into sleak beauty...

This is what I observe of AR156 after sitting at the void deck looking at this old beauty...

to me the 156 still looks fresh.... and the shape will last, unlike some modern cars which will look dated in 2-3 years' time.

It's a bit like the smartphone fight: Apple is passionate about the products it creates, attention down to the smallest detail. On the hand, the Android camp, the normal companies (HTC, Samsung, etc) are only interested in pushing boxes...

If you don't hard up on reliability + soul, but think it in terms of a continuous curve, you can come up with some compromises. I know I did. Maybe 80% reliability 20% soul? Honda Civic, the closest feel to an Alfa an average Joe like me can afford. Rem, Honda is the Jap maker known for its orientation towards the driver.

If you look at youtube's Lexus commercials, esp those on the LFAs, maybe Lexus has something here.... But can we trust Toyota? Now it has even revive the AE86...

Also the MEGA-FACTORY documentaries, there's one on German Audi factory making the R8, and a USA BMW factory making the z4. These'll give you some insights.... Keep in mind that Alfa factories are worse, worse than the above USA BWM factory. There is a story abt Alfa factory workers demanding a TV during the football world cup so that they can watch their country play while working....

Some countries stop war during world cup just to watch football.

So, productions of cars is really no big deal... After all, it is known that world cup stops the world...

Nissan S15, R32/33/34, NX Coupe,

Suzuki Vitara

Mazda MX5, RX7

Toyota MR2, GT4, Sera, AE86

I don't think you can find one though. European cars (not just Italian ones) are generally not as reliable as Jap ones. With cars getting every more complex these days, its even worse.
