That said, any bros care to recommend a good and reliable workshop to service my hyundai?

Twincharged

Yes.. there is no Sodium Chloride.. but there are a whole lot of other salts in PUB water... go check out their website then you know what you are drinking..

Yep. But then in comparison Singapore's water is not hard at all. There are some countries where the water is so hard you can't even use it to wash your car.

by the way, i am not affiliated to.riverview auto in anyway.. but very very impressed with their workmanship and competitive pricing. been with them since 06... Vincent still drops over for small chat during my servicings..

however if there are former who intend who bring all parts on their own and expects very very cheap labour, you might want to look elsewhere... i went for some free servicing recently with world auto... Mmz. .. after ny servicing my coolant water looked rather weird and advised me wrong stuff on my drive shaft too.. told something is broken and would take 185+ to rectify one part..

i went to Rv for second opinion. . they fixed the part for $75.. i decided to also flush my coolant using original Toyota coolant and clean my drive throttle. .. all three things added up to least than $180... still cheaper and more things were done..

by the way, rv. always use original coolant and parts. .. did i.mention that parts and labour were much.more.expensive in world auto.. i wouldn't have gone if not.for.free servicing and oil.from.mcf.

those who are interested in getting their car serviced, just give Vincent a call... he is the boss.. :) give his workshop a chance..

The difference between soft and hard water is calcium salts. Difference between distiller and soft water is that no salts in distiller water. You can try using soap with tap water and then distiller water and you will know that Singapore water has salts. Distiller water is tasteless to drink.

I agree with civic blade that komoco (or other guys) should issue statement that using tap water from Singapore is 100% safe, if they believe in it.

Singapore water may not do so much damage, but it still do the damage. The difference will be felt depending on the power at which you are operating. In Singapore, engines run at much lower power than the capacity, water is better than most of the world and hence damage is not easily noticeable.

To many, I might be over reacting. But the "over reacting" comes from having bad experiences with scaling when tap water was used in my previous vehicle.

And once scale forms over the inner surface of the radiator and engine block, it is almost impossible to remove them other than treating them with some nasty chemicals and acids.. and the results are not exactly guaranteed.

Granted that Singapore's tap water is considered "soft" compared to many other countries but it is still treated with salts.

So why take the risk. I'm just trying to inform fellow motorist of a simple coolant replacement procedure to stick to that will ensure that your cooling system performs optimally for at least the 10years that comes with your COE.

I still do not see why distilled water or premixed coolant cannot be used for coolant replacement. Motorist should insist on that and not take the convenient excuse given by workshop that tap water is ok to be used.

Bro,

Since you went to AD for servicing, the expectation should be that the AD adhere strictly to instructions in the service manual...But unfortunately, in the Singapore where service attitude is amongst the worst due to cost cutting and outright bochap-ness, this is often not practised at all. I would have preferred to send my car to my regular mechanic that operates his own workshop so everything is done to your exact requirements. This is what I do for my PI stream.

BTW, are you Suan Heng?
