Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Just to put everybody at ease in such cases, the insurance company is obligated to pay the innocent parties, but will collect back from the guilty parties. This also applies to driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Do you mean even Insurers policy still cover if the vehicle is not roadworthy? If yes, then I understand why Insurers for certain taxis gone bust one after another. ↡ Advertisement
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Not everyone has the money to change tyres... Who says everyone need to have money to change tire. I did changed two tire for free, by appealing in most diplomatic manners to the other party (my brother could not believe me either)
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 by driving SLOooooowly... One day a sub-contractor failed to turn up the whole morning. After lunch he came in a taxi. He said his vwn had flipped slowly in the morning on the wet road when he braked. Only then he noticed the tire all bald already.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Like someone, who is not extremely poor, knows he is quite sick and says he has no money to see the doctor! Can afford to own & drive a car in Singapore but cannot afford to replace worn out tyres??? Consult doctor need to pay, see doctor can be free. Bald tire need to replace, replace tire can be free. Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Very old tyre which already harden is equally dangerous Can lead to tire bursting due to carcass failure (had 4 of 5 original tire burst just like that, 5th one spare tyre, so did not burst). Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 I think it would be more helpful to that driver and for the safety of other road users to notify him of the condition of tyres of his car and ask him to taking prompt action. Recently I saw a Mercedes B class and a current model Altis with almost bald front tyres, especially on outer edge. And another vehicle a few days ago. Perhaps their drivers never get tyres rotated. I left a note on windscreen to highlight hazard and urging driver to replace worn tyres promptly as car may skid and braking distance increased greatly, especially on wet roads. Doing this may actually help our own safety because we may happen to be in the vicinity of such vehicles and our vehicles may suffer co-lateral damage if they skid because the drivers are not aware the tyres are bald. Well done. That is a good idea to help each other (some drivers do not even know the Highway code well, how?). Would this be good enough? "Bald/worn tyre/tire is dangerous on wet road. It is much cheaper to replace any such tyre/tire now, then after accident"
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 (edited) I always see a W211 Benz E Class parked near my place with almost completely bald rear tires. I think the answer isnt really about whether they have the money to get new tires, but whether they KNOW when to change the tires. Some people arent really educated on cars enough to make that decision by themselves. Kindly do us all a favour: leave a note on the windscreen: "Bald/worn tire is dangerous on wet roads. Cheaper to replace them now, then after accident. You car number will be forward to the Authority if any bald/worn tyre found not replaced by the next working day. Many thanks for making the roads safer for all of us". Edited December 11, 2011 by Good-Carbuyer
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 There are a few reasons, with number one most probably being "no time". Owner/drivder passed away already?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 I have seen a Volvo S60 and Lexus RX with tyres that I would change long long ago ..... I do not understand, these people can afford such cars and i find it a little hard to believe that they have no $$$$ to change the tires .... are they just ignorance ? Tires are the contact point on the road and i would not save on safety ... Maybe some of them thinks that bald tires =F1 tires ... I believe they will change immediately if you report them to the Authority.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 I know for a fact that FR cars cannot have blad tires at the rear because they're more prone to spinning. Most people who don't speed very often on FF cars usually don't know when to change their tyres as they usually don't feel any significant loss in traction especially if their car is no where near the 200bhp mark. Some don't change it due to their in ability to make sense of tyre wear or the common no time excuse. You may be aware that 85 bhp can deliver wheel spinning on dry roads. 200 bhp can be put to better usage like towing. Perhaps such drivers can benefit attending some refresher driving lessons. If owner/driver already passed away of course no time to change tire.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Ppl driving their car with bald tire are either ignorance and don't bother (irresponsible) driver. They simple don't care what is going to happen next (their live and other). Insurace definitely void in accident for these car. Never take a ride on their car for your safety sake. Most helpful to report them to the Authority if they persisted

Perhaps such drivers can benefit attending some refresher driving lessons. If owner/driver already passed away of course no time to change tire. Provided you launch the car every time you drive, you purposely go into the corner very quickly or your vehicle has a huge amount of torque. 200bhp towing? I believe i this case you mean trucks. The torque is immense from those turbo diesel engines.
Achtung 6th Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Yup, has a friend who crashed cause of bald tyres. No claim at all. He paid for the tree, the signboard and the divider he damaged on top of his own repair costs. Yesterday on the CTE towards City, an accident happened cause of tyres. I heard it burst before it spun! When tyres are botak, if you have an accident insurance company can reject your claim .
