Scb11980 1st Gear December 4, 2011 Share December 4, 2011 How do you feel about building apartments/houses beside a temple? superficially from the news it appears that logically the temple has been there first BUT that does not mean it cannot be relocated any religious organisation must follow certain laws with regards to noise and crowd control if their congregation out grow their premises then there is possible need to move to a larger site that said we need to know both sides of the story if you feel this is ridiculous complain by the condo owners how about of Hindu friends, whose Thaipusam celebrate kena from government the religious celebration with noise of drums only happens ONCE a year and attracts many many tourist dollars yet government found it reasonable to curtail their celebration to bare minimum the Thaipusam celebrations have been here for decades, personly our society's behaviour, is lead by example follow the leader
Darryn Turbocharged December 5, 2011 Share December 5, 2011 That should be the other way around, the "foodcourt" as you put it, was built next to the existing cemetary. In any case, the number of people throwing out rockets about it being FT complaining is kinda disturbing - there have been many many reported instances of Singaporeans complaining about noise of this sort - to blame FT based on nothing feels very xenophobic. Swiftee Clutched December 5, 2011 Share December 5, 2011 These are confirm not Singaporeans. Stupid ICA did not conduct Singaporean courses for these rich foreigners to let them understand our culture? And the property developers are at fault too for not highlighting these temples. But wait, I thought these rich atas people should know there is a temple directly beside? There are many other estates in Singapore that have temple too. And nearby have HDB/Condos. For so many years we never have such complain and we are taught to respect each other races and religions since young.

Jman888 Moderator December 5, 2011 Share December 5, 2011 I used to live near one of the religious buildings that appears in one of the Singapore history textbooks. They used to have prayers through the speakers several times a day, starting from 6am. So if the solution is to demolish them, there will be nothing worthy to read in our Singapore history textbook. they can build a miniature in the museum [laugh]
Scion Turbocharged December 5, 2011 Share December 5, 2011 all Chinese and Hindu temples, Christian churches, Catholic chapels, Muslim mosques and other minor & legal religious places have the right to practice their beliefs in Singapore For decades, this is what we are proud of... religious tolerance among one another no Singaporeans or any foreigners can be allowed to damage this relationship

Throttle2 Supersonic December 6, 2011 Share December 6, 2011 funny poor sob who bought a 'so called premium' condo beside demands serenity.what a joke. maybe she should live in a cemetery. Thats the main reason why i didnt buy that new property beside the temple. I knew i wouldnt be able to stand the possible noise and poor traffic expected. Thats also why Developer was offering at $1250psf.
