mine is still dead, the TV is now blank, can't see the status, not sure whether to turn off the power, but worry that it may corrupt the OS too.

Your 1% is dl rate of installation rate?

If it is halfway dl then went dead.... then can reboot w/o affecting the OS......

If it is installation halfway and then went dead...... this one really good luck to u....

the 1% is during DL. I did a PC installation instead, it solved the problem.

Good to know your problems solved. Cheers!!

Wat games u play?

Sorry, the problem is back again. After the OS4 upgrade, the console takes a long time to boot up, and when shutdown, there is a 3 beeps. I've a bad feeling the HDD is corrupted.

I'm playing GT5.

I also experienced this 3 beeps before, but it's not during any OS upgrade.

whenever my PS3 hung during a gameplay, everything freezes and I could not even shut the PS3 down using my controller (pressing the PS button).

the only option is to press the POWER button, which will give a 3 beep when I do so.

I read somewhere before, 3 beeps usually happens when the PS3 is being shutdown with some program still running in the background, which is the "hanging" game in my case.

mine is the slim set.

Yup, 3 beeps is forced shutdown due to system hang. When this happens very often, usually YLOD coming.....

Yeah, the 3 beeps means that the system is busy in the background and hung, which is not a good sign. I did file system restore, it didn't work. Going to send Sony for repair.

You better get it repaired properly during warranty.

Do note to leave the PS3 in an open space and make sure it is a few inches away from everything so heat does not build up, especially the sides and the back of the PS3.
