Why threadstarter couldn't piece together a subject line in proper English?

Is this the reason some degree holder aren't successful? Perhaps their command of simple English both verbal and written.

suspect he ITE and want to think if worth it to pursue degree or to start work [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Hello Degree holders,

How many are not there yet after working so many years?

How many quit your high paying job due to work stress?

Just curious la....

I would be the first to ask you: what do you define as "successful"?

Net worth $1 million, $10 million?

Or happily married with kids?

Or manage to get the job that you like to do?

Or your kids are courteous and well brought up?

I know of some classmates who are more successful financially, but still single to this day. Maybe their life is freer and more enjoyable - I don't know - but as they come to old age, maybe will have second thoughts?

Should be "are you still struggling to be successful?", or "do you still struggle to be successful?", but I think he couldn't decide, so chose a bit of both [laugh]

The bottomline is to excel in what you do, and to make your niche at whatever place of employ you may embark upon. Create a track record, that would render yourself highly wanted

to the Qn, are you struggling, I can safely say, I am beyond that. You struggle cos you choose to. Live a life that is comfortable and is easy on your heart and mind. You have the choice to do so!

Absolutely correct. There is no fixed definition for success. Having a high paying job and getting a million dollar salary might be successful to some but that could mean zero family life, which in another aspect, is unsuccessful. A road sweeper who does his job well and gets recognised by the resident is in himself successful. As long as you strive to deliver your best, that in itself is success. We do not need to answer to the threadstarter's question. Who is he to ask if we are successful? We only need to answer to ourselves.

Hard to fulfill lah...work and fun together. How many ppl can have his sort of career??

In Singapore, that piece of paper is a ticket to almost land you a job in any area till our government decided to open the floodgate. And now, even with that piece of paper, many still are unemployed and taking up job they dont like. Why? Singapore labour tight or employer money tight???

Good or average paying job, have to work with excess stress, lousy working environment and commit all you time to it, else be prepared to loss your job to some alien!!!!

By going at your definition, i just hope that our ministers felt very successful and wanted. So far, they had made it known that they felt rich only, but this does not mean they feel that they are successful.

So the moral of the story is even when you are right up there, it does not mean you will feel successful.

He is having fun with nukes. His days are numbered. His fat boy looks more chubby and can claim that he is rich and successful as a degree holder. Very relevant to this thread.

Apparently not.

His health is in trouble and he has to fret over his son's succession. Poor guy, so old already still cannot retire in peace.

I'm struggling. Graduate in 08, then went to repay NS since I disrupt for study. 2 months before ORD, lehman bro collaspe.

Had a hard time finding job, finally end up with a job with low pay and totally unrelated to my studies. I just take it since recession at its worse phase, cannot be picky. Now it's almost 3 years and my pay remains the lowest among my peers, can't even hit 3k. Applied for jobs since the start of the year, ask for 3.2k in resume, but received 0 call.

I believe one reason is because we are the only company in SGP doing this thing, so I can only apply for positions which I've no experience in. Makes me hate NS and the govt even more, if not for NS, I'll most likely have a better job/career development. Come out from NS and I see those foreigners taking over jobs which I can do, at a lower pay. Call me weak but I blame our govt for taking away my opportunities, this is a fact. I'm almost 30 and still no reasonable career path. I seriously wonder how am I going to have a family and a HDB flat, car is out of the question and I don't even dare to think. Many of my friends who get married and buy HDB are struggling to make ends meet. Haiz... [shakehead]

I think you no need to be a degree holder to have a family, buy HDB flat, car and get married lo. My camp mates, many of them also dont have degree, some are diploma and most even dont have diploma, they now also have a HDB flat, car and married with family. [rolleyes]

A degree is just a stepping stone towards your job, success has nothing to do with academics unless you work for the govt, for O level people like me, I am lucky I can sell insurance and make a decent living because I am a man of high moral integrity and help people plan their finances....
