Thought to share.....

Recently, unfortunately encountered an accident. Someone followed too closely at highway and when I had to brake suddenly due to the car in front, the car behind me crashed into my bumper and then a third car crashed into the second. Traveling speed around 90 to 100 but when I braked probably around 50 (estimate).

Suffice to say, i felt a slight jot and crunching sound. Got out checked the other driver and car was ok, checked my car and there was a slight indent to the rear of the bumper. The other car was lot more damaged. Got all the necessary details and I drove off after 45min. The other cars had to be towed unfortunately. I realised the IS is quite hard since the damage was quite minor. However, could be bumpers are harder and made to withstand impact. In fact, I drove around for a week or so for the other car insurer to admit liability.

Anyway, had a very good experience with the BM repair centre in Pasir Panjang, service was very good, kept me updated and did all the necessary paperwork including photos etc. Had a Camry as a courtesy car. Though not used to it due to the size and noise relative to what I was driving.

The repairs cost almost 20k and it was just for a bumper replacement and repaint of rear portion. More than half of that is labour charges. Still cant get around to that cost for a bumper replacement. Fortunately, the other car's insurer has to pay everything.

Most importantly, the car camera helped a lot since there is no dispute about who was at fault even though mine was front only.

So for all its worth, the service at BM is really good and well worth as a consideration for purchase of Lexus cars. I mean one does not wish to be in accidents but when it happens it really helps to have it resolved smoothly without hassle.

Number plate was transferred to a 2008 Camry 2.4... he probably calculating that he only needs his own car till September 2017, when he will then change to SEP1 [laugh]

Sorry to hear of the accident, but glad to hear that no one got hurt. My colleague who drives an IS 250C had a similar experience - repairs were sorted out fairly hassle free but cost was high (also paid by the other driver's insurer).

I experienced BM Lexus repair first hand some years ago and was very happy with the results. It was a complicated case but car came out of the shop very well sorted. Francis is the person to talk to. In fact he served me with my first car, a Starlet 12v, in the early 1980's.

Lexus service is very exhorbitant. Parts are very costly ( marked-up) and one can get them outside more reasonably priced and have them sorted out at a fraction of the price.

I currently driving an ES250 New facelift purchased in late dec 2015. The car is very comfortable to drive and firm too. However I am Very Disappointed with the car insulation. I am juz surprised by the high level of road noise n engine noise coming into the cabin. The service centre said it is normal but I am still not happy. I don't expect Zero noise level but I feel it is the same as my previous Nissan. What can I do ??

Install soundproofing especially in firewall

Then change ur tyre to quiet one or install soundproof on wheel arc

wow, from 1980s to 2010s all the way in BM... the knowledge accumulated through all these time must have been impressive.

The engine should smoothen out with miles. Once is run in use a good oil. Yes sometimes new cars can come with noisy tires. I would replace them while they have some trade in value. Recently drove the Facelift ES300h. That's one very quiet car. I was also very impressed with the quietness of the NX200t motor.

For him, yes. He's terrific. For me I strayed to the Euros for some many years....I think I made their aftersales very wealthy.

Brought to the Lexus showroom by friends 'to have a laugh' at their so called 3 series competitor...well, we are now on our second Lexus '3 series competitor', after 8 years of blissful ownership with the first (sorry did not have the opportunity to help their aftersales get rich)

why buy so expensive car and need to do all these sound proofing.. doesnt make sense. this show that home work not done properly or ES over priced. i believe in the latter as i was looking at it when first launched

I have driven the ES250 before and now on the NX200t. The ES250 to me is extremely quiet. Have you done test drives of other cars in the same category?

Best to have an objective measure. Get a sound meter (around $150 at Sim Lim Centre oppo Sim Lim Square) and measure. if noisy you can then prove it to BM and get them to fix it for free.  U can sorta calibrate your meter by using it at their showroom car. If yours is higher than the showroom car or demo car then its something to compare against

I am not sure how updated this is but this can be a guide

Though I am surprised its noisy as its a uncommon complaint about Lexus cars being noisy.
