Cerano 1st Gear December 2, 2011 Share December 2, 2011 4139507[/url]'] From what i had remembered, the Afghanistan's Mujahideen had the support of the CIA when the Soviets try to invade them. Those days, the Mujahideen are known as the "Freedom Fighters", nowadays they are simply known as "Insurgents" or "Terrorists". Its ironic how the US always has the power to manipulate world-wide media to change the world's opinions on the same group of people. Regardless of how supreme the US military is, this is a country which is governed by self-serving idiots with a facade of upholding freedom and democracy. Everytime i watch independence day or air force one i feel like becoming an american ↡ Advertisement
Scion Turbocharged December 2, 2011 Share December 2, 2011 An independent nation will gain membership in the UN. Is Taiwan a member of UN? er.. actually no South Korea joined UN in 1991 and Switzerland as recent as 2002, 57 years after UN was formed but that's for different reasons

Today's freedom fighter, tomorrow's terrorist? One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter Don't forget CIA trained, equipped, armed, and financed the Mujahadeen during the Soviet Afghan war. I think they are best students the CIA ever trained. Edited December 2, 2011 by Without_a_car

Happily1986 5th Gear December 2, 2011 Share December 2, 2011 I think the PLAN's solution to USN supremacy is the use of submarines to hunt down carrier groups. Ton for ton, submarines offer the cheapest option to building a full fledge blue water navy. Are the Chinese submarines effective, that I am not too sure. so you are saying that the Chinese does have plans to have blue water navy capabilities? Acquiring killer subs as main offensive capability almost make it seem like they were going down the route of the Kriegsmarine. i feel that strictly speaking, having aircraft carriers with a full fledged aircraft battle support group(s) is the one true hallmark of a blue water navy. I think it very much depends what lessons they learn from the sea trials of their carrier. As for now, submarines are the most cost effective platform to counter the USN. It's the wet dreams of Admirals to have carrier groups, but not many countries can afford them.

Lethalstrike Turbocharged December 2, 2011 Share December 2, 2011 Today's freedom fighter, tomorrow's terrorist? Damn right about that. In fact, the US politicians are no different from the guy in avatar. End of the day, its still all about serving self-interests. The only difference is how you do it. China doesnt They understand what true freedom is. Sadly, the Dems don't. Neither do the neo-Cons. The American govt has come a long way from true freedom. Talk to the people and they'll tell you what they think of the fcuking govt. More and more americans are moving to rural areas and joining militias, owning their own fiefdoms. To them, the US govt represents anything but freedom and honesty. Only sad third world fcuks like you and the Filipinos still believe in the USA's advertising and promotion. The level of trust ordinary americans have for their own govt has plummeted after reagan left office. 1fast1 Supersonic December 2, 2011 Share December 2, 2011 Nevertheless, Americans represent what good that's left in the world. They understand whats true freedom. China doesnt True freedom? You have GOT to be sh*tting me. True freedom e.g. #1? : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_speech_zone True freedom e.g. #2? : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraordinary...e_United_States True freedom e.g. #3? : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilean_coup_of_1973 In the last example, the US actually deposed a democratically-elected socialist yet peaceful regime to install a brutal puppet dictator who tortured and murdered multitudes of his own people. Do you really want me to go over what the US has done in the Middle East? How about capitalising on the post-9/11 hysteria and concocting that WMD story for a pretext to invade Iraq? A country that had almost NOTHING to do with the 9/11 attacks. There was a time when I was as naive as you. When I held the US to be the standard bearer of freedom and democracy. Not any more. I see the US for what it is - a bloated, ruthless, hypocritical plutocracy. Nothing is what it seems, and I won't dismiss even the silliest-sounding conspiracy theories outright (even the ones that allege the US had a hand in either causing or not actively preventing 9/11 in order to further its own geopolitical and economic agenda). Please get the stars (and stripes) out of your eyes. I, too, enjoy those great American blockbusters, and I've been an avid reader of Tom Clancy's output. But I know now that all those things are just glitzy propaganda and should be taken with more than a grain of salt. Just because China are the bad guys (and they definitely have the potential to be very, very bad) doesn't make the US the good guys. In life, unlike fairy tales, there are often no good guys. And here, I'm going to say "'nuff said" because I actually have a good idea of the NSA's capabilities in monitoring global chatter and traffic. ↡ Advertisement
