Google might have close to a million servers. Yahoo has something like 13,000 staff. We have 679 servers and 95 staff.

 

Wikipedia is the #5 site on the web and serves 450 million different people every month

i read that last night and the first thing i did was.................

 

google to see if really google has 1 million servers! apparently, the figure is close to it, around 900,000 running on customized linux on dual-cpu systems housed in customised racks. they came up with their data centre concept of a certain design for themselves and each cost usd600million. very fascinating to know and even more intruiging on how they hook everything up but dats a trade secret
