KARTer 2nd Gear November 13, 2011 Share November 13, 2011 I've been to a few of their branches in the states. All are located very far from city, but all have been there for ages. I've been to the aussie version as well (HarbourTown)... also located in ulu place and also been there for ages. Why? Because CHEAP. Land cheap, goods cheap, and some say shoppers also cheap ... and i'm one of them . down side of outlet shopping:- most latest designs are not availabe, for the latest items shoppers still have to visit normal shops... recently on a tour i bought something (latest design) in town and the next day we headed to the outlet (30km from town) and wife was teasing me on the way there: "You will feel real sad if the things you bought in town are selling half price at the outlet"................ she didnt get to laugh at me when we combed thru the outlet... ↡ Advertisement

I bought a branded wallet in an outlet in the states. I paid about sgd100+ for it. When i came back to sg i happen to pass by their store in ngee ann city and saw the exact same model selling as "latest arrival" for 5 times the price. Anyway, let's just say the word 'outlet' has been misused by the shops at Changi City Point. All the 'outlets' there are small and things are ex. I am waiting for the real one at JB...I hope so. Voodooman Supersonic November 13, 2011 Share November 13, 2011 I doubt the Johor outlet will be as cheaper as those in the States for American branded products. If you have visited Korean oulet store, they are not as cheap too. Reason being goods will have to be priced at a discount to main street stores but too deep a discount would cheapen the brand. So don't expect to buy Levi, Kate Spade, Gap, Nike, Seven of all Mankind... at rock bottom prices... States will continue to offer superior outlet's prices as normal prices at Macy's can be as much as 50% cheaper than Orchard Road's prices for some products.... Hope I am wrong, would love some good shopping with some carbon burning exercise thrown in.
SLSAMG88 1st Gear November 13, 2011 Share November 13, 2011 I doubt the Johor outlet will be as cheaper as those in the States for American branded products. You're probably right, but my pet hate of the US stores is that what you pay at the cashier, is not what is on the sticker! I always get sucked into buying a lot in the Outlets in US, cos the pricetag says $25 plus an additional 30% off! So it's like $17.50 for a Ralph Lauren shirt....WAHH!!! BUY BUY BUY AHHHHHHH!!!!! Then I go to the cashier with 5 shirts, thinking I will get lots of change for my $100 note! The final price is something like $103.43. And then I ask the cashier and she says State Taxes and Federal Taxes...I.... And then take out one shirt and ask her to charge me for four only... But I still manage to get a laptop bag from Samsonite for ~S$30. Others brand like Nike, Levis are not much cheaper than here during sale. You can easily get a cheaper Nike shoe at Queensway shopping center. Edited November 14, 2011 by Tohto
Karu 6th Gear November 14, 2011 Share November 14, 2011 Will be interesting to see how the standards of US outlets are replicated in M'sia... Think it'll still have the 'Truly Asia' trademarks like stinky toilets, poorly maintained buildings etc... Prove me wrong...

PaiKia-Lee 1st Gear November 28, 2011 Share November 28, 2011 quite cool, there is burberry and armani, my favorite!!! but wonder after shop there will get robbed? robber waiting at the entrance there? haha robbers waiting at the entrance? Dont be a typical stupid sporeans. The robbers are all inside the Johor Premium Outlet all over the place. In a notorious place like Johor Bahru, the only safest place is the Sultan house. If robbery can take place at individual jewellery shops throughout Johor, you think JPO is safe for robbery? Its much worse as the whole place smells of money.. real money. The robbers will park themselves inside and deploy a platoon of young robbers there to rob daily. No joke. ↡ Advertisement
