Amaze Neutral Newbie November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 Couple of yrs back, when I drive my son to school, I would always see this civic ambulance with the beacon flashing along AYE. I gave way everytime. One day I decided to call the phone number displayed on the ambulance to check if it was really on duty. After that I never see that ambulance flashing the beacon lights anymore.
Unitek 1st Gear November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 2 weeks back while waiting first line in a traffic lights. An ambulance came from behind with siren on. i signal left, prepared to speed up, changed lane for it to pass. Just then, a malaysian bike came forward and stop infront of me! When the light turn green, this bike move so slowly and with 1 hand sticking out with a packet of coffee! WTF!
SGCMmaomao 6th Gear November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 sometime the ambulance doesn't seem to be in urgency... they drive slowly on the slow lane but yet, both light on the top and the front are beaming...can I overtake or give way? U never been into the ambulance b4 eh? inside have alot medical stuff which is not advisable to swerve left or right in a fast manner.. they flash their lights to clear the lane in order to travel smoothly wo e-braking or something.. If they flash light but drive slow THERE must be people inside who suffer from serious injuries or something which they can't take bumpy ride.. PLEASE JUST GIVE WAY TO THE AMBULANCE! BE it it's civil or private.. U won't die being LATE but people inside will!
SGCMmaomao 6th Gear November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 There was once I am traveling on the right lane with an ambulance behind me with light flashing, but it is not traveling fast that why I did not give way since I am turning right at the second traffic light. Then the oncoming traffic light turn red and I just stop since my left lane was empty. But this f--king bugger sound his siren suddenly, So I just filter acutely to the left lane for it to pass. Question is, why didn't the ambulance filter left and move off since it is not turning right at the next junction. I thought they somehow abuse their power. Hey U Dip Sh*t... Please read my post as above.... PPL like u on the road is an hazard... U just put urself in the ambulance or ur whoever tat mean alot to u... U will think the person blocking the ambulance is a F**Ker.. . U should go back and take ur BTT all over... BE IT the lights or sirens on or not, just give the way to them... Coltplussport Turbocharged November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 Come on, the ambulance have more than enough time to gently filter left and go straight since it is traveling so slowly. And you do sound like the bugger in the ambulance.
Aeromania 1st Gear November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 i guess overtake and speed off is alright. Just don't stay in front of them.

Acieed 1st Gear November 11, 2011 Share November 11, 2011 What "time" are we talking about here ? 2 seconds ? 4 seconds ? 10 seconds ? People can still complain living in Singapore is stressful, worry about saving a few seconds time. Come on, live and let live. Come on, the ambulance have more than enough time to gently filter left and go straight since it is traveling so slowly. And you do sound like the bugger in the ambulance. If you have experienced rushing to hospital, you will really feel at ease when in jam, kind people are around. So I will do anything that's safe, to allow the ambulance's smooth passage. Come, people inside may need that few minute to be saved! Edited November 11, 2011 by Tanhangkiang

If you have experienced rushing to hospital, you will really feel at ease when in jam, kind people are around. So I will do anything that's safe, to allow the ambulance's smooth passage. Come, people inside may need that few minute to be saved! Absolutely, just get the h**k out of its way as long as it's safe to! In fact I remember in M'sia ambulances don't even stop at traffic lights even when turning right, and even if the traffic light is red, people move around a bit to let the ambulance go: when the siren is on, just assume someone needs to get to the hospital RIGHT NOW. Having sat in one ambulance during a real emergency, I can tell you it's really frustrating when people don't give way because of some technicality (choose: bus lane violation, traffic light violation, or you indirectly caused someone's demise. I know which I would choose)
Ghostrider 3rd Gear November 12, 2011 Share November 12, 2011 but but but... I was behind the ambulance lar... and it's going like 40km/h on a normal road in the middle lane... so I dunno to overtake or not The paramedic could be in the ambulance providing emergency 1st aid so the driver drive slower to let them do their job. Just give way to them when the lights are on...it not gonna add an hour to your trip....

Yogi 1st Gear November 12, 2011 Share November 12, 2011 Just give way. The condition of the patient inside may not allow sudden movments. Its always better to give them the benefit of doubt - how much time do we lose anyway?
