Detach8 5th Gear November 8, 2011 Share November 8, 2011 Guys, my parent's Merc B170 stalled on them several times this month and we just sent it to C&C. It's just barely 3.5 years old and over the warranty. Did anybody have the same problem and what was the diagnosis? They claimed to be a fuel pump and it costs $1,200 but info I gathered seems like a simple crankshaft position sensor. Please share if you have any info. Thanks! ↡ Advertisement

Thanks! if it is already in C & C.....i guess no one better than them to answer and diagnose the problem here....for car like merc...they should be able to provide you a readout from the diagonosis tool...they will proof to you what is the actual problem...not only talk... SimonTan 2nd Gear November 8, 2011 Share November 8, 2011 If CnC cannot give a definite reply.....then we all know all the talk about genuine inspection and diagnostic system are just promotional talk. If after changing something, still got issues.....then it's confirmed the workshop is useless. So what is the outcome so far?
Detach8 5th Gear November 8, 2011 Author Share November 8, 2011 (edited) I told them to go ahead with the repair and will only collect car tomorrow. I'll drive and monitor. But I also told SA that if the problem recurrs I would expect the follow up repair to be FOC. Edited November 8, 2011 by Detach8
SimonTan 2nd Gear November 8, 2011 Share November 8, 2011 Yes....that's a good suggestion that all car owners should tell to AD. We have being given excuses and run about by some AD for too long.
Angchug 3rd Gear February 29, 2012 Share February 29, 2012 My 2009 B170 stalled on me 4 times last year. Same like you I had it check at C & C but they can't locate the problem. I tried running it for 2 mins before I drive off. The problem disappeared.
