Looks like Performance Motor is trying to capture some of the market from VW Golfs & Rocco. 1.6 TC rearwheel drive...Quite an attractive proposition for people getting a pocket rocket.

The Ah Sias will have another choice when shopping for toys...

Yeap. The new F20 1-Series is a much better look in real life compared to the pictures.

As for the interior though, it really felt like I was seating in the outgoing E90 3-Series, sans the slightly snug front footwell width.

This also means the interior is still sort of dated BMW designs [not the more executive and upmarket looks that the F10 5-Series and F02 7-Series got]. It's an evolution from the previous dated designs, rather than a revolution.

The 118i according to the "Life"newspaper editor, tested last Saturday, very heavy fuel comsumption, about 8km/L.

8 is pretty bad for 1.6L car. Maybe not run in yet?

Well, it's got 170bhp, so shouldn't it be compared to a 2.4L car instead?

In any case, BMW's aren't meant to be driven around sedately. The 8km/L fuel consumption should be acceptable by those who buy BMW's isn't it? I suppose their wallets/ pockets are far more deeper.

to be honest, i feel the interior is superb. The finishing looks much more upmarket then the old model which pretty much has a 3 series interior.

BMW seems to be stepping up the game with regards to their interiors which is their older models' weak point.

I drove 520 & stays in 5 rm HDB. But i don't mind 6.5km/L.

actually, if compare bhp to bhp, abit not fair. 2.4L is NA so usually is less efficient.

should compare in this case, 1.6L turbocharged with similar 1.6 TC setup.

i can think of merc c-class, opel astra 1.6T, peugeot 508 1.6T but then again all different car category due to different sizes.

not to mention, this 1series is twin scroll turbo. not the usual very small light pressure turbo.

Yeah... was at the Unveiling event the other day. Nice party...

Think the 118 is selling around 170K & the 116 around 150K... Pricing a little more than the Vdub but think the interior & features on the Beemers are more attractive. Cannot afford!!!

One plus point is the rear wheel drive. Drive should be quite exciting, will want to test it one day. Agree that the interior looks way better than the 318 & 320s...
