Ahbao999 1st Gear November 8, 2011 Share November 8, 2011 Dear car owner, Just wanna share something my friend told me. Dunno is true or not. Maybe you guys can share and advise more info ???? Did you guys realise that there are those claim original oil filter in the market??? Recently there are ppl post fake Toyota ATF in this forum. So hopefully more ppl will be aware. Quite strange. 100% Genuine Toyota Oil filter is made in Thailand and those claim to be original Genuine is from Japan. Point to check. 1) you can see some lubricate on the oil ring (ususally is black with white spot on it). 2) smell the hole in the centre, you will smell some lubricate smell. It may just cost you $2 to $3 more for the 100% Geniune Toyota Oil Filter. Dunno this apply to other brand as well ↡ Advertisement

Material used in both the oil filter for thailand and japan might have different. pay $2 to $3 more and use 100% genuine why not ??? some money can save some cannot ... Oil filter very important, cos is like kidney of the car.
Tcx607 4th Gear November 9, 2011 Share November 9, 2011 Some oil filter make in Indonesia and Malaysia. I experienced oil filter seal broken during normal operation. Most of the engine oil leak out from my engine block through the oil filter seal. I immediate drove to my mechanic for replacement. He claimed my oil filter make in Indonesia and the seal actually broken (rubber cut) Although it only cost $10 each but knowing the oil filter from indonesia, I am more careful to look at label from now. Oil filter very important, cos is like kidney of the car. Seriously who cares. Its just a plain paper filter housed in a metal can. Most of the particles get thru the filter anyway. Yeobh 4th Gear November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 (edited) Oil filters will get cheaper as many car makers are moving into eco filters where you need only to change the filter element and the canister is being reuse again. My old Caddy van has a replaceable cartridge oil filter. And I'm lazy to change it.
Yeobh 4th Gear November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 I understand Caddy van eco filters need a special design wrench to unscrew the canister.
Qms Neutral Newbie November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 (edited) I understand Caddy van eco filters need a special design wrench to unscrew the canister. I never thought of it as a eco filter. There's no special wrench needed. Just a normal screw on cap on a canister. Edited November 10, 2011 by Qms ↡ Advertisement
