Road vibrations felt in the car

when i drive my current ride....i can feel the significant road vibrations in the car when i am at the driver's seat. i had changed the tyres, shock absorbers and engine mountings recently. yet these vibrations are still felt in the driver's seat. in the other seats, its not so obvious.

i had put the gearbox in neutral while the car is moving, and the vibrations are still transmitted to the driver's seat, so its not a gearbox or gearbox mounting problem.

i had not felt this in my previous cars before...and i've sat in friends' cars of the same make and model, and they do not have this problem.

anybody know what is the cause of this? bushings? wheel bearing?

congratz, you have in car massage system..

LOL [laugh] on a serious note, drive to ur workshop ask them to check ur suspension again....to conform, cos my parents 8 years old extol also have this problem, turn out the suspension moved forward by a few degrees *i also don know hw my father drive make until the suspension also move, but i guess is the work environment, since my father works as a safety manager and thus have to go around different construction sites of the company together with the safety officers..thus u are better off goign back to ur workshop to ask them to check..

not when the brakes are stepped on....it is evident when driving the car around....and even when it is in free-wheeling mode (gearbox in neutral)

hmm...this is the 2nd suggestion on suspension being the problem. think i may get the alignment workshop to check for me. i did alignment early this year...but they didn't tell me about this problem. my previous car was a SUV and the front-left suspension system was bent backwards by 3 degrees due to the offroad driving which i did. there was no road vibrations at the steering wheel, but the alignment kept going off every month or so.

So obvious. Road surface rough lor. [rolleyes]

not exactly...but rather, on a smooth cement road like car parks, i can still feel the vibrations being transmitted to the car. it feels like wheel bearings being spoilt, but there's no squeaking sound at all. i can feel a click-clock vibration when the car is moving, and it goes faster as i accelerate.

new and original shock absorbers. so can't be that.

New means stiff... Go for cheap bcbr coilover. Solve all ur problems.

have u tried to go to a workshop, jack up the car and turn on your engine?

does it still vibrates?

if it still vibrates, it could be engine mount related.

if it doesnt then it could be suspension, arms or any of the lower bushings.

for suspensions, you can do an alignment and see if it resolves the issue, if it doesnt then get them to check the arms and bushings. if it does, then you might also want to consider replacing the 4 suspensions. since you are changing might as well go for aftermarket ^_^

for arms and bushings checks, the best place to do this might be at vicom.

since you can turn on your car and go to that area where they check exhaust from below.

from there you can see and feel all the linkages for excessive vibrations and might even be able to hear where the sounds are coming from.

hope this helps [cool]
