ok, i know there are many such thread already but those are really "dream" car... not realistics and might not reflect the actual practicality of car choice ownership....

here the deal.. if you are given the chance to choose a present car with terms and condition below, which will you choose?

terms and condition:

1) Must drive the car for 10yrs. (change car not allowed)

2) Must be your only car or transport. (dont park at home and ride)

3) Must clock 20k milleage and above per year. (so that you dont park at home with no wear and tear..)

4) Must buy insurance under own name. (dont use your daddy ncd hor..)

i just want to have a feel, what car brand is the ideal choice for long term ownership. of cause some of you could afford to maintain a ferrari or lambo or LFA and some even would choose a Zonda but im sure 99% of people cant even "afford" the annual insurance premium of such super car, dont talk about keep it running for 10yrs..

i think with my current income level, the most i could afford to drive is a ~2L car and my

1st choice would be K5,

2nd choice would be Accord,

3rd choice would be Mondeo..

what's yours?... [:p]

Here in PAP land the system does not favour hanging on to a ride for 10 yrs even if the car is perfectly usable. Almost any Jap car will survive 10 yrs easy. And I also see many Mercs and BMWs and even porkers above 10 yrs old and used as bnb cars.

The problem in sinkieland is the COE system encourages a very wasetfull high obsolence rate for a vehicle that should usually last well over 15 yrs. 1st of all COE is only for 10 yrs.

Also the COE prices peaks and throughs depending on the COE supplly. If u buy your new 2L car now with with COE at $76k and COE falls below $20k in 2014-2015 many would cash in on their 3 yrs old ride to buy a new ride at the much lower COE price.

The only winner is the govt who rakes in more hidden taxes.....its ashamed the system encourages such wastefullness even when the PAP says we wana move towards a greener sinkapoor....just goes to show what kinda people we have at the top...so sad...

Present COE system is wasteful (aritifically forcing cars off the road when these cars still have many good years in their life), abused by dealers (who bid for buyers hence able to manupilate the markets at the expense of the buyers etc etc), good in raking in money for LTA (COE prices at $60 and above).

K5 - good look, unknow reliability, average performance/handling, good interior space

Accord - average look, Honda reliability, performance/handling above that of K5

Mondeo - look as good as K5, reliablility somewhere between K5 and Accord, performance/handling best of the 3

Based on my limited knowledge, havent owned all 3, only brief test drives. Info on reliability based on reports / articles.

My heart will go for the Mondeo but my head will want the Accord for reliability.

K5 got this problem of having a similar bro i45 from its parent company so to me no matter how good ppl say I will always think it will be held back so as it will not out do its bro to hurt sales volume.
