I tend to agree that if you like large full size sedans, sleek ones are hard to find. Maybe this is due to the challanges in designing nice forms and shapes for large car bodies. I always feel that design such as the Rapide (more so that the new XJ, maybe I am biased towards low-slunged body?) is how a large 4/5 seater should look like. I had expected the Panamera to look better before it came into the market, till today i am still trying to 'get used to' its rear look from some angles.

 

The recently-superceded CLS looked good and had the technical sophistications and luxuries to go with its look. The Passat CC is a smaller version of such luxury cars.

 

At the same time, the 'bulky' Phantom though looks good in some ways, just couldnt be associated with the word 'COOL', maybe because it's to 'formal'??

 

On the other end: cars like Fiat 500, Copen, iCar have their own charms (ok, for housewives?) and are COOL.

what went theough the mind of the designers?!?

maybe i am still getting used to the look of the new CLS, still find it visually a little 'bloated' in some details.... hope the 'new' look will grow on me.
