Enjoy your trip bro. Customer service is a bit sucky though, the ah tiong thingy . . . you know what I mean?

We spent 10 days in Seoul a couple of years back . . . quite fun.  [thumbsup]

Must make sure to let them know you are from Singapore

and get better service. Korean love and respect Singapore

all my Korean counter parts looking for excuse to come

to Singapore to eat Chilli crab and go to Marina Bay Sands.  [thumbsup]

This is also true for Hong Kong, make sure to speak English

and make sure they know you are from Singapore.

My colleague made the mistake of speaking Cantonese to them

they detected her accent not from Hong Kong thot from mainland

and gave her even worse service.

Actually I think for the whole world better to let them know where

we are from and more importantly we are not from mainland.

I was in Bangkok having a massage and the Thai lady spoke

fluent Mandarin as she worked in a factory in Taiwan and she

told me she liked Chinese from Taiwan and Singapore but NOT from

mainland and told me all about their unhygienic practices.

Body language is the best way to communicate.

Actually I find all the old ladies running restaurants very friendly.

They cannot speak English also never mind they keep rolling the

veg with the roast meat inside and keep feeding me. More sincere

than the no hands restaurant in Bangkok.  [thumbsup]

The most "disliked" thing to do by a Korean person

is to learn to speak English. They rather learn Mandarin than English.

I very envious of all the people here travelling to my 5 favourite countries.

Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. I really cannot explain why I like

these countries so much. In case my wife is reading.  [thumbsup]

Speak English first and if they cannot understand then speak Mandarin

and slip in you are from Singapore very subtly so you get better service.

If all don't work ask for menu with pictures and point.

Yes its true the local Jap food here is very good and the

Korean food in Korea is so much better. But there are some

very good Korean restaurants here. The Korean restaurant

in Amara hotel is very good. Even the Thai restaurant in Amara

is very good. Don't know if still open or not. last went in 1997.

The Korea restaurant in Amara set lunch is also very cheap.

But don't know if still open or not. Last went in 2008.

Its like the Chinese take away food in Western countries.

Once you eat Korean food in Korea you may not want to

eat Korean food in Food Courts anymore.
