Rubberstamp Neutral Newbie October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 I have many muslim friends and colleagues and very often we go to halal foodcourt for lunch. i notice most of the chinese food stalls have a chinese cook and a malay helper. she is probably there to ensure its all halal?? this one i dunno. but the food that comes out is no where as tasty as a normal chinese food court. the carrot cake, hor fun, economy rice all not nice. since the cook is chinese, the only difference is pork? so does pork really make food alot more tasty? ↡ Advertisement

Mllcg 3rd Gear October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 (edited) no lah, nowadays many food sellers dont used pork & lard anymore, only some.. maybe is the halal chinese stall that u go employ some lousy cook..u can try Mr.Tah Terik food stall @ chinese business park, their mixed veg rice is nice too.. they are halal foodcourt.. no offence to all muslims here. but our macdonalds here taste CMI compared to HKG/japan/USA where they use real lard to cook the meat and fries. and also got real bacon. btw, watch this thread and dont say the wrong thing. sensitive topic Edited October 27, 2011 by Mllcg
Kangadrool Supersonic October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 BTW, pig oil, coconut oil is far better choice (if you don't want to get obese). Kool Zhar, our fathers and mothers buy lards and fried for the oil. What was the percentage of obesity then? Now, we use "healthier" vegetable oil and palm oil, what is the percentage of obesity now? Watwheels Supersonic October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 Do you all find the food in foodcourt nice? Regardless whether Halal or not. I support food at hawker centers anytime. Food not tasty means lousy cook, simple as that.
Donut Supercharged October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 there is a world of difference between cooking with Pork and without Pork. A fine example that you can try is to eat Ban Mien with minced pork, and Ban Mien without minced pork. Without pork is really CMI............. Should be "Halal Chinese food...not tasty". Was about to come in and defend malay cuisine to the end then realised it was those halal food courts that TS was talking about. In that, I fully agree. Most of the ones I've tried really CMI compared to their chinese counterparts. I guess it's because they aren't used to cooking that type of food ba. Like if the top French chef were to cook Indian food, and the top Indian chef were to try his hand at French fine dine. Each won't be able to do as well in an unfamilliar kitchen, than if they were to stick to their own areas of expertise.
