so how does it help to control car population if everyone hangs on to their cars and pass it down to their grandsons? :D

i am glad that this isnt happening, else i might have to drive my dad's datsun bluebird still.

then again there wont be roads to drive around too, cos it will be congested with old pass me down cars. :)

What's nice about a country abound with new cars? They are souless, without character, and downright boring. COE controls congestion how? If absolutely neccessary, I can buy a car for under S$10k. Anyone can still afford to own a car, that is if thye don't mind what car. For the record, wish I could see the Datsun Bluebird again...

Still, you're right in saying that COE is here to stay, and that maintaining a culture of classic car ownership here in Singapore will never fully take shape. There will the oddballs like myself who rage against the machine, and hold on to our rides by any means neccessary (mine's 27 years old btw [;)] ), but it will never become commonplace. Which is part of the charm of classic car ownership actually... :D

Coe controls congestions by limiting the growth of cars.

Else we could see 3-4 million cars by now.
