Coolants.. where can i get them?

Usually the red coolants are "antifreeze" (ref the ones from caltex etc), but after shopping around, I used to use the 3rd party ones or the SPC ones which are green ("anti corrosion"), I feel those make more sense lol.

if my coolant reaching low level can i just top up or need to do a flush. anyway how often to flush every 40k?

 

 

bro, for Vios, coolant only need to be change after 100k, after that, 60k interval if I remember correctly... if you haven reach the millage, just top up with distilled water will do...

 

having to say that, I dont think it will harm if over replacing the coolant earlier, if you have the bullet, just do it at 40K if that makes you feel good. Its cheap and easy to DIY anyway...

Hi all, I thought so it will last 160K

 

But recent checks with PH papers showed that my coolant had became more acidic after 40K.

 

So I replace them.

If you frequent Malaysia, i think it is cheaper there.

 

I think it is around 20-25RM for the 1L concentrate. Thai made and distributed by UMW, the local toyota distibutor.

I've a friend who brought in a fantastic waterless coolant - means your radiator never get corrode .. He sent it for drag race at Sepang last month, results was unbelievable..

Anti-freeze, Anti-overheat, temp stays below 100dg no matter how u blast your car and blahblahblah...

 

Brand: Evans Coolant (google for more info)

 

Best part is that you only need to change once, cos it lasts a LIFETIME.. It'll gonna be in my car soon!

I agree, I use a normal coolant in my car and it OK with that, good mileage, no heating problem. But i change it after 30k.

 

30K?? not too sure what coolant u use but its really super kiasu [laugh] anyway, like i said, no harm to overdo since its cheap and easy... the only downside its the pollution to the environment. [laugh]

I've changed to the toyata red coolant before cny.

The temperature when cruising is around 76-79 deg. If stationary for a long time, it can go up to 81-83 deg. Drops backbto the 76-79 degrees range when cruising again.

The red is not thick concentrated red, it's a bit translucent, while rust is brown, so it's still distinguishable.

Another tell tale sign for rust is residue at the bottom of the coolant tank.

 

My original coolent from Honda is apple green. It is even more difficult to spot rust.

I bought my red colour long life toyota coolant from the autoshop there.

Buy those in plastic bottles, not cans.

 

Recently while emptying one can of coolant, I peeked inside the can. Guess what? There were rusts at the bottom and some brownish particles.

I checked & it has a operating range of -40˚ to 375˚ F (thats -40 deg C to 190 deg C! )
